Ask any frequent traveller in these regions and they will confirm this. The turbulence is more pronounced during monsoons. Have always worn a seat belt, albeit a bit loose, even when seatbelt sign is switched off. Airlines need to redefine SOPs now that global air turbulence is increasing & flat beds have come in as well.

This is classic Innovator's Dilemma. An existing company launching a new innovation also has to contend with 2 fundamental questions where they usually fumble & let smaller more nimble companies take lead.
1. How do we maximise revenue from innovation without slowing=killing existing revenue streams.
2. Timing of launch & trying to perfect things.
This is where Google failed too.

Brilliance, conciseness. & simplicity often come together. Goes for this article too. Not much new ground has been broken by Pallavi, but the framing of core issue is so brilliant even a common man would understand and agree.
Her analysis is effective precisely because it refuses the usual policy-paper checklist of border talks, trade deficits, or multipolar rhetoric. It stays with the cognitive and historical mismatch that keeps those practical efforts from landing. That is what gives the piece its depth and impact.
I think we would do well to accept Chinese perception of ourselves as true & critically examine ourselves. Irrespective of its truth. An San (quad, etc) & Modi failing to meet 5Tn GDP promise by 2024 (hence skepticism on 2047 vision). Any introspection only strengthens. If we find any merit, we should act on it in self interest. Like we expect Chinese to correct their 1962 perceived treacherous behaviour.

Circa 2007, I had a severe air turbulence incident on Kingfisher Air flying into Bengaluru from Mumbai. Very similar to the Air India incident of yesterday. And then a really really severe one flying into Joburg from Capetown ...like a Cat 5 tornado. Carry scars till date...so Air travel isn't that much fun now. In this respect train has been the most worry free & joyous. Followed buy road,...I'm in control there usually & can manage....plus the pleasure of playing my songs non-stop.

@sreemoytalukdar For me too, greatest joy lies in the journey than reaching destination. Some of the most joyful moments of my life have been these. My family has never been able to understand this fascination.

I took a long distance Rajdhani some years back. Riding after a long gap. I was alone , thee 2A cabin wasn't too crowded. Initial few hours in evening were jostalgic but then the urge to reach destination kicked in. The wide berth wasn't too comfortable. Next morning was glad to have debarred. I think it might still work if I'm with friends & family, having fun. But somethings are better left at sweet remembrances. 4 hours is my max tolerance in domestic travel now - road, train or air. Am I the only one or has air travel done this to others too

@SandeepMall Have fair experience in S Africa. The work culture in many areas is just admirable. Restaurants, fuel pumps etc. Just great. I always love the way they clean your windshield so well & patiently. One of the greatest countries for driving trips & self catering accommodations.

Consider a scenario where excluded games were included in CWG 2026 & India won same no of medals in them as in CWG 2022 the medal tally would change. India would then stand #3 in rankings ahead of Canada. What it means - include these games in 2030 where you have the right to do so & expand skills in other games.

PM Modi's decision to overlook the harsh language used by some young protesters reminded me of a memorable scene from the 1980 Telugu classic Sankarabharanam.

A group of youngsters mock Maestro Sankara Sastry by blaring a Western pop tune outside his home. Instead of reacting with anger, he calmly reproduces their tune flawlessly, then invites them to sing one of his ragas. They can't.

They say the best response to youthful rebellion isn't to take offense. It's to understand it, rise above it, and let time do the teaching.
