The airline, Royal Air Maroc, has for the longest time, been the biggest culprit when it comes to baggage infractions, poor passenger handling, and extremely poor resolution processes when dealing with Nigerian passengers.

Having been sanctioned - for the first time ever - for consumer protection-related infractions in 2025, one would have expected very major improvements in the way the attend to complaints from Nigerian passengers.

Sadly, despite the best possible support from the Authority (we support all airlines to continue to be in business), the manner of response to these issues have hardly seen much by way of improvement; baggage continue to be shortlanded without timely information to affected passengers, first need is not being paid on a consistent level, and complaints are treated mostly after the NCAA gets involved and much pressure is given.

To make matters worse, invitations from the CAA are treated with a degree of insolence that is unacceptable. Everywhere in the world, when the CAA summons an airline, it is mandatory to attend.

Royal Air Maroc's country manager, Ahmed Boussouf, will sit in Lagos and refuse to attend meetings in Abuja. Instead, the airline will hastily send an email on the eve of the meeting that the cases are being processed, and thereafter, send one Theophilus (their Abuja rep), without authority to resolve cases or make commitments.

Today, one of those events occurred. In registering our displeasure over this incessant disregard for Nigerian passengers and the Authority, this country manager, Boussouf, said to me, "Whatever you want to do, do."

While our job may be thankless and exhausting, the NCAA, under the dispensation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Honourable Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN; and the DGCA, Capt. Chris Najomo, will never be diminished to such a level of brazen disregard and non-compliance.

The passengers whose cases have been delayed, quite unfairly and unnecessarily, are paying, loyal customers. International airlines have bilateral service agreements (BASA) to honour, as well as the obligation of simple service to passengers.

Strict enforcement will happen against this airline and my department will push for a stoppage of Royal Air Maroc operations in Nigeria until they make a commitment to treat Nigerian passengers better.

I am not the kind of public servant who is afraid to lose his job for the right reasons. I will never accept this behaviour from operators. It is not arrogance; it is simply adherence to rules that have, for ages, been treated like they don't exist.

Whatever gains we make in this industry, we will continue to fail if the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders are treated as an afterthought. We must be intentional and systematic, adhering to world class standards.

Most airlines are fortunate, and they know it, that Nigerian passengers do not have a culture of boycotting airlines, no matter the shortcomings. Otherwise, some of these cases would not even require regulatory intervention if any operator fails to take their customers seriously. There is nowhere RAM flies to, that people do not have alternatives in Air Algerie, Egypt Air, and Ethiopian.

My department will be taking a very firm stand over this matter, and Royal Air Maroc will stop taking for granted, the relationship Morocco has enjoyed with Nigeria and Nigerians.

We will ensure stiffer penalties against Royal Air Maroc this time. The job we were given to do will be done without fear.

That's right. China has eclipsed Russia as the largest weapons exporter to Africa. American weapons are expensive and take too long to deliver.

Nigeria has paid $1 billion for 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters, but deliveries may not begin until 2028/2029. The 12 MD 530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters for the Nigerian Army Aviation Corps could take even longer to arrive.

This long wait delay the fielding of much needed combat capabilities.

By contrast, the first batch of Wing Loong II UCAVs form China took roughly 16 months from contract to delivery, which is much faster than the 4–5 years Nigeria is expected to wait for the AH-1Z Viper helicopters.

Also, the VT-4 main battle tanks, ST-1 tank destroyers, and SH-1 self-propelled artillery systems were all delivered within one to two years of their contracts being signed.

A rejoinder to my earlier tweet.

This video was sent to me last night. As it clearly shows, the residents of this house have made a conscious effort to avoid indiscriminate waste disposal. Unfortunately, their efforts are being undermined by the absence of PSP operators.

How can a major street like Afariogun in Oshodi be left without PSP operators for over three months, despite residents not owing service fees? The residents have repeatedly reached out to the Local Government and their relevant PSP operators, yet nothing has been done. And this is the reality of most people across the state.

While it is important to hold residents accountable for proper waste disposal, government must also fulfill their responsibility by ensuring consistent and reliable waste collection.

There is also a canal close to this street. If this situation is not addressed immediately, frustrated residents may resort to dumping waste indiscriminately, creating avoidable environmental and public health hazards.

I respectfully urge you to investigate this issue, restore PSP operations to Afariogun Street without further delay, and put measures in place to prevent similar service disruptions across the state.

So, during Talbiyah, when the true pilgrims declare their presence, the Angels return a beautiful response to those the Almighty called:

لبيك وسعديك، زادك حلال، وراحلتم حلال...
"Here I am at your service and blessed you are. Your provision is lawful, your transport is lawful, and your Hajj is accepted."

And when those He did not call shout their "Labbayk", the Angels will say:

لا لبيك ولا سعديك، زادك حرام، ونفقتك حرام، وحجك مردود عليك
"You are not welcome, and there is no blessing for you. Your provision is unlawful, your wealth is unlawful, and your Hajj is thrown back in your face."

Any person who stole money (haram wealth in general), terrorized humanity, or killed to go for Hajj is a sign he is amongst those who will be utterly wretched. The Hajj is only a testament of how unfortunate he/she would be on the day of resurrection.

The glamour and the picture may be there, but I can tell you they would be worse off. You cannot loot people dry and then think a trip to Makkah works like a magic eraser. Allah is pure, and He only accepts what is pure.

So today I was to go to the airport to confirm a flight booking for a friend. I got dressed and when I stepped out, I decided to book a Bolt ride.

In less than 5 minutes the driver arrived and I was surprised when I discovered that it was a pregnant woman who was the bolt driver.

She was heavily pregnant. Her stomach was big. She looked like she was 8 months pregnant already.

I stood there staring at her for a while.

"Are you the bolt driver?"

"Yes."

"I looked at her and turned to enter the car."

"Buckle up your seat belt, sir."

I buckled up.

She began to drive.

Calmly.

"This is my first time seeing a heavily pregnant woman doing bolt service."

She smiled.

"Yes. I have heard that over 5 times today since morning. Everyone looks surprised."

"Yes. It is surprising. I won't bother if you were not pregnant. But you are pregnant. At this stage, I feel like I should be the one driving you."

She laughed.

"I am fine. It is my Job to offer my services."

"How long have you been driving?"

She smiled.

"Since I became pregnant."

"Are you serious? And oga allowed you?"

"My husband is crippled. He became crippled last year after he was involved in an accident."

I was silent for some seconds.

She turned to me and smiled.

"You speechless?"

"I am. I didn't expect that response. I am sorry."

"It is fine Jarey. We had this car parked at home. So since he can't drive it out anymore or go to work, I decided to stand up and do the work to put food on the table."

I became emotional as she spoke.

"He did it for me and took care of me before his accident. Now that he is not able to do it anymore, I believe it is my duty to do it for him too and our unborn child."

I nodded and smiled.

"Thank you for supporting him. He must be very lucky."

She smiled.

"He is. But I am lucky too."

From the way she spoke about her husband, I could tell the man treated her very well when he was still strong and able.

Today when he is down, she took it upon herself to take care of him too.

Men, be good to your wives. Love them genuinely. Respect them. Treat them with kindness while you are strong enough to do so.

Because the love you sow into a woman's heart today may become the strength she uses to carry you tomorrow. Only a woman who was loved well, will stand by you in your time of struggles.
