I fired https://t.co/Tr2hNHy0pc this weekend, here's why:

I spent two days deep in a project with it. Hours of back-and-forth. Constraints agreed on, ideas rejected, decisions made — all that context built up like it would with a real collaborator.

Then the conversation got long, Claude "compacted" it to save space, and it was like walking into the office Monday morning to find my coworker had amnesia.

It forgot the constraints. It re-pitched ideas we'd already killed. It asked me questions I'd answered on Saturday. I became the memory layer for my own AI assistant — copy-pasting context back in like it was 2023.

And once I noticed that, I started noticing everything else:

→ Long conversations degrade instead of deepen. The more you invest, the more you lose when the window fills up. → No dependable memory across chats. Every new conversation is a cold start. → Usage limits that cut you off mid-flow, right when the work is getting good.

Meanwhile, the competition has been sprinting the other direction. ChatGPT's persistent memory actually carries what it knows about me and my projects across conversations. I don't re-introduce myself every session. Continuity is the whole value proposition of an assistant — and right now OpenAI treats it like a feature while Anthropic treats it like an afterthought.

Smartest model in the room doesn't matter if it can't remember what we talked about an hour ago.

So this weekend, I fired Claude. 💩
