He sounded sincere. He mentioned corruption, tax relief, education, the middle class (first time I heard in a SONA) and a lot more. There are obviously so much on his plate he is working on. It gave me some optimism. #2026SONA

[ADMIN] On Headstart with Karen Davila today, Heidi Mendoza revealed how Senator Jinggoy Estrada once tried to block her confirmation as COA Commissioner. At the height of the pork barrel scam audit, he even wrote to the Asian Development Bank grasping for dirt against her. In his frustration, he went as far as calling her inutile—an insult aimed at the very person exposing his role in the scandal.
He opposed her not for lack of competence, but because she refused to bend.
Now his name emerges again, this time in the flood control scam. The pattern is clear: when billions in public funds are in play, Jinggoy Estrada is never far behind.

HOW VILLAR ALMOST GOT AWAY WITH A ONE TRILLION PESO SCAM
Manny Villar and Villar Land almost got away with inflating the value of their company on paper - almost 1,000,000,000,000 Trillion Pesos - by purchasing land and having such land revalued by an “appraiser” to almost 200x the value out of thin air.
But thanks to media outlet Rappler, auditing firm Punongbayan & Araullo, and gov’t agency SEC, the bombastic land value inflation scheme was stopped in its tracks.
First, Rappler consistently reported about it this year following the story about the first Philippine company to report the largest single-year profit of almost 1 Trillion net income in 2024.
Rappler’s reports were heavily lifted if not plagiarized by many social media influencers or vloggers as their own content, with some crediting Rappler only after being called out by netizens.
Second, Punongbayan & Araullo refused to sign off on the auditing financial report of Villar Land given the firm’s disagreement or hesitance with the method or findings of Villar Land’s appraiser - the so-called expert that gave the almost 1 Trillion re-valuation of Villar Land’s land assets.
Because Villar Land’s audited financial statements were not yet signed, Villar Land could not file the necessary mandatory disclosures to the SEC.
Which leads us to the third obstacle for Villar Land’s illusory valuation.
The SEC suspended trading of Villar Land and other affiliated, preventing Manny Villar and shareholders from potentially profiting off the increased valuation of their company.
And because Villar Land was not filing the necessary annual reports and audited financial statements, the SEC imposed penalties and fines.
Given all these obstacles, Villar Land had no choice but to accept a lower re-valuation of around 8 Billion Pesos (ang layo sa 1 Trillion di ba?) so that Punongbayan & Araullo would sign off on its audited financial reports.
And thus ends the attempted highway robbery of the Villars. They were slapped with a 1 Million pesos fine for each Director of the company.
That seems to be a slap on the wrist only given that the company tried to get away with a 1 Trillion highway robbery.
Parang wala kang naririnig na successful business practice ng mga Villars noh?
From Camella Homes to Coffee Project to Prime Water to Siquijor Power to Villar Land - all are plagued with poor business practices if not outright ripoffs of consumers or financial statements.
When will this billionaire-political dynasty family be held accountable?

From InsiderPH:
In late March, Villar Land stunned the market by declaring a record P999.72 billion profit for 2024, up over 68,000 percent despite falling revenues and operating income.
The surge was driven entirely by a P1.33 trillion land revaluation from properties purchased in Villar City, a 3,500-hectare estate in Southern Metro Manila and Cavite, that were acquired months before from Villar-controlled affiliates for P5.2 billion.
Villar Land hired E-Value Phils., an SEC-accredited appraiser, in early 2025 to value the Villar City land, resulting in a P1.3 trillion estimate. This is required for its final audited financial report.
But when presented with these findings, P&A, Villar Land’s external auditor, refused to sign off, suggesting it had concerns over the valuation’s reliability.
Those sanctioned include Cynthia J. Javarez, president and director; Manuel B. Villar Jr., chair; Manuel Paolo A. Villar, director; Camille A. Villar, director; Mark A. Villar, director; Ana Marie V. Pagsibigan, independent director; Garth F. Castaneda, independent director; Estrellita S. Tan, chief financial officer, chief information officer, treasurer, and investor relations officer; Gemma M. Santos, corporate secretary; Ma. Nalen S.J. Rosero, assistant corporate secretary; and Kate D. Cator, compliance officer.

OLD INTERVIEW CONFIRMS DUTERTE'S REWARD SYSTEM IN WAR ON DRUGS DESPITE BONG GO’S DENIAL
An old interview with former President Rodrigo Duterte has resurfaced, seemingly confirming the existence of a reward system for neutralizing alleged drug lords during his administration, despite Sen. Bong Go's recent denial of such a practice.
In June 2016, Duterte reportedly instructed members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), then led by now Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, to eliminate suspected drug lords. He offered a P3 million reward for killing a drug lord, stating, "kill them, personally I want you to do the killing."
This statement is consistent with remarks made by Dela Rosa in the same interview, where he acknowledged the reward system as an "additional motivation" for police officers. Dela Rosa emphasized that while officers are not hitmen, they were instructed to neutralize drug lords "through legal means," with preference given to those killed in encounters.
The video also shows Go, then a special assistant to Duterte, confirming the reward system, noting a P1 million bounty for dead "ninja cops" (rogue police officers allegedly involved in the drug trade), and P2 million if they resisted arrest.
The reward system was first revealed by former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Royina Garma during a House Quad Committee hearing. Garma testified that rewards were given for killing or arresting drug lords, pushers, and users. Following her disclosure, Go denied involvement in such activities and distanced his office from the PNP's operations related to Duterte's bloody war on drugs.
