It's my job to teach med students direct, accurate communication with patients.
I reckon patients should have access to this knowledge.
Some useful patient phrases translated into hospital-speak:
"please explain this further so I can decide if I consent'
It exists to reinsert workers into work when they'd naturally be grieving, spending time w community, making life changes or otherwise stepping away from productivity.
It enforces this by threatening diagnoses & drugs on those who don't return to full productivity immediately.
@h_zurcher I'm pretty sure it's class signalling. People want to make a public show of knowing (and pointing out that others don't know) the 'correct' way to wear clothing.

Family member doesn't even have to say anything, just sits quietly in the corner in officewear.
You know who is extremely respectful of pronouns? Vet surgery staff.
I went to pick up a corpse wrapped in a cotton bag. The staff, on the other hand, were definitely handing over a he/him.
i need people to understand that a white person and/or non-japanese naming themselves shit like mochi and takoyaki is the equivalent to calling yourself spaghetti or candy corn. ITS NOT AN AESTHETIC ITS THE NAME OF FOOD MAN ๐ญ๐ญ
Anyone who has ever tried to advocate for a loved one in a health care setting knows that itโs normal to endure microaggressions from health care staff. Itโs one of the dark sides of medicine no one wants to talk about.
