Updated the demo build with a few fixes and improvements.
Still got a few days of the #steamnextfest left, so please try my game out!

@Charli3Dubs Hi Shadey's Quest is an autobattler roguelike with deep character building and cute artstyle.
Demo is up at the steam page https://t.co/BhRSAfWxKZ
@_Tom_Henderson_ Hi if you want to play a game without AI you can try my game, its a roguelike autobattler about feeding a little shadow monster. All designed and drawn by myself :)
Demo is live at https://t.co/C7cIDf6pT7
It's official: Shadey's Quest is participating in #SteamNextFest ! That means that the demo is releasing TOMORROW. its been a lot of work pulling it together. So I hope you all check it out.
Im back. While testing the game during the break I found out that the role system feels too opaque and downright unfair. Rework a lot of the stats to fix this.
Gotta make the game good in time for the steam next fest, which is just around the corner :S #indiegames#steam
I've been fairly quiet lately, but for a good reason: I have basically overhauled the entire game, completing it with a functional ui and a tutorial. I'm attending the february steam next fest, and a lot of stuff is still to be done, but I'm hopeful I'll manage.

Implemented a couple new encounters.
One is a mysterious golden potion which acts as an emergency heal.
In the other one you can look at food pictures to make Shadey hungry, but with a chance to be scared by a soyjak (which will damage Shadey).
#indiedev#indiegame#roguelike
Yet another new encounter -- the mimic. He demands two ingredients with a specific Symbol, and in return gives Shadey a powerful piece of equipment. If you don't want to feed the greedy thing, you can simply force the mimic open (at the cost of some health).

Working on new encounters. This here is the gambling wheel. You can spin it for a chance to gain gold, equipment, food or Nothing.
I had to re-record this clip five times because I pulled nothing lol. But as they say, 99% of gamblers quit before they win big.

The most challenging thing about creating levels for Shadey's Quest is not coming up with fun and unique room topologies.
Its making sure I don't accidentally draw a swastika with the paths. I triple-check each level but they just keep popping up lol.
#indiedev#gamedev
I've added beds to Shadey's Quest. You can sleep on them to heal or you can jump on them to become hungrier (meaning you can eat more food).
I haven't added the actual sprite for the bed yet, so the Grandpa Bed from Stardew Valley serves as a placeholder.

Sooooo I haven't posted in a while. I've been hard at work, reimagining and improving just about every aspect of Shadey's Quest.
Take ingredients, for example. Cooking food is supposed to be fun, but it lacked any depth. I've addressed that, adding cool mechanics to ingredients.
For over a month I have been quiet, busy working on one of the most crucial features out there. Finally, it is done. I present to you....
The Loading Screen!
(actually I've just been busy with my phd thesis but im also done with that for now)
#indiedev#loading#gamedev
The first level – Greylands – is a barren wasteland with suspiciously petrified corpse-shaped rocks. Only the weakest Shadows still live there. But otherwise it's a pretty nice and wholesome place. :)
#indiegame#indiedev
Here is the Exiled Captain (on the right). He is one of the first enemies I designed, but easily one of the coolest.
As a solodev, I'm very restrained in how complex my art and animations can be. But I'm still trying my best!

In Shadey's Quest you can get a bunch of cool equipment.
For instance, it can make his attacks inflict poison, or enhance his Vampirism grant him Damage. You'll have to pick which equipment suits your Shadey best.
#showcaseThursday#indiedev#roguelike
Combat in Shadey's Quest is automatic (largely inspired by Loop Hero), but with some tactics involved: you can choose a target for Shadey based on his strengths, making him focus that one pesky debuffer or healer that is countering your build.
