MY SUGGESTION TO UPSC FOR CIVIL SERVICES EXAM
This year there is reportedly a new type of preliminary exam questions and this has resulted in a lot of speculation on the cut-off mark for the current year. Many candidates reportedly are worried.
Normally UPSC has been calling candidates for written exam numbering 12 to 13 times of the number of vacancies and reportedly last year about 14,500 candidates were selected for written exam .
When prelim pattern was not in vogue , and everyone wrote the written exam. at the most 30,000 candidates wrote the written exam. And our system was geared to handle this volume.
My suggestion for this year is -- in view of the perceived difficult questions set for prelim, UPSC should lower the cut off substantially and let about 30,000 candidates take the written exam .
This might enable many bright candidates to appear in the written test and consequently we may get brighter officers for the civil service.
Evaluating 30,000 candidates' performance is not a big issue but it could be more fair and broad based.
I hope UPSC will consider this suggestion. @PMOIndia

@sahajtloi Spot on sir ! Keep forgetting that aspirants can't do everything at the end of the day.
Say following PIB - 45-70+ articles per day approx coupled with newspapers and probably the classes they might be attending + Prep
God knows where they will find time to read, leave revise๐คท
The scary part about UPSC is that hardworking people fail too.
Thatโs why this exam breaks more people mentally than academically.
We need to normalise therapy and counselling. Mental health among serious aspirants is deteriorating, and nobody talks about it enough.
Any game is fair and easy watching from the outside (though you maybe a retired specialist in past )
But playing on the day , on the field makes it difficult and different !!
Past glories maynt reflect present realities !!!
Perhaps being a little empathetic isn't too hard !
@Ayush5205536485@padhai_upsc Exactly ๐๐ป๐ฅ๐ฅ clearing the exam , perhaps makes some feel entitled to opinions - lifelong !
Not even acknowledging for namesake ,atleast ,that the paper was unconventional, tough and lengthy & dismissing it as routine ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ first acknowledge the pain - before advising to adapt !!
Someone finally talking sense ๐ฅ๐ฅโค๏ธโค๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ป by acknowledging the core things and not brushing away the emotions of aspirants and obviously the need to evolve to survive this field , wonderfully penned down sir โค๏ธ๐ฅ๐๐ป
@vinaysi75187615 Yes But to give the mock itself basic input needs to be revised and then mains prep ..Optional ...Essay prep ..ncerts etc etc are there...So easier said than done ๐๐ (for some veterans..might be Possible easily )
@_praatik_b Lol but Already some people are thanking UPSC for mentioning the sources..๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐๐
But they wouldn't thank me when I said ...Please read
- Polity Book
