For the first time since 2018, West Florence will commence the season under new leadership, as Cheraw native Chad Wilkes takes the reins following Jody Jenerette's departure in January. Wilkes, who previously coached at Oceanside, inherits a team with a mix of returning starters and underclassmen. The quarterback position is up for grabs, with Avery Weaver and Chase Anderson vying for the starting role. Weaver gained valuable experience as a backup last season. The offensive line, although sizable, lacks experience and will need to rapidly develop to remain competitive in Class 5A. Romello Patterson, a Coastal commit, has transitioned to linebacker and will anchor a defense that will undergo changes with a new defensive coordinator. The Knights will kick off their season at home against rival South Florence this Friday, with live coverage on ABC 15 beginning at 7:00.

It was a big moment for @WestAthletics18 star @RomelloPatter10 when he committed to @CoastalFootball several weeks ago.

Had a chance to sit down with him this morning to get his through on his decision and the role @CoachCarter_CCU played in landing the Pee Dee star.
