The 1958 Oscar for Writing (Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium) went to Pierre Boulle for The Bridge on the River Kwai. However, it was commonly known that blacklisted writers Michael Wilson & Carl Foreman wrote the screenplay based on Boulle's novel.

@jeromeacohen. He's been a great mentor to me. Some refer to him as the "Godfather" of Chinese legal studies in America. I just know him and his wife Joan to be amazingly intelligent and kind people. (Pic date: Jan 2020)
