Husband to the most amazing woman, Dad to the most amazing 4 kids, Christ Follower, rookie hockey dad, Hummer guy, car guy, trying to become more like Him.
@mckaycoppins 100%! I admire those who are willing and capable. The only thing I would add to to these wise words is this: there is no technical winner…no trophies. Remember, you are opening hearts and minds of the viewer. Clever moves aren’t needed.
@NathanielGivens Loved this thread from Nathaniel Givens—but honestly, this might work even better as a prologue. 😉 I do think some of our online apologists (as much as I admire them) can lose sight of this at times. I thought Jacob H did a good job of striking that balance with Allie Beth S.
@conservmillen @CLICKBAITER6769 Allie, people can reframe your views in frustrating ways. LDS feel something similar. Moments in your conversation with JH felt like you reframed his/our view in unrecognizable ways. More effort to understand actual frameworks would be productive and go a long way in dialogue. 😉
@BSpackman Outstanding, as usual! I always learn from this man and I really appreciate the clarity he brings to some of our misunderstandings, related to OT/Hebrew/Israelite context. Grateful for the way he seems to bridge scholarship and faith in a way that actually strengthens both.
@RyanQualtrics I can’t be there (I’m in TX), but, my Son, former college hky player, now poor UVU student, just finished first semester of being a student w/o hockey (18 hours, 4.0 GPA). He’s dying to go to Mammoth game.
As a teenager, my life was peppered with uncertainties and anxieties about the future.
One day during my Sunday School class, my teacher shared a verse of scripture that changed my perspective and brought an infusion of light into my mind and heart. These words have continued to help me in many of life’s situations.
As I mentioned during my general conference address Sunday morning, followers of Christ should follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers. In our families and other personal relationships, let us avoid what is harsh and hateful. Let us seek to be holy, like our Savior.
@RyanQualtrics You are the best! I’m a Texas guy, fanboy’ing from afar. Love your style. I have a son (former college hockey player) that just moved up there to finish school. Dallas Stars fan, of course. But, he’s instantly become a fan of the Mammoth and you, personally! God bless you!
It is not enough to merely know about Jesus Christ. Each of us must seek to learn for ourselves that He is the Son of God, and our Savior and Redeemer.
When Jesus was presented before an angry mob, “Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!” (John 19:5). Though they saw Him with their eyes, they did not truly behold Him.
In a figurative sense, we, too, are invited to “behold the man.” When we are willing to learn of Him and seek to align our lives with Him, we feel that He is indeed the Christ. We repent and strive to refine our natures and daily grow a little closer to Him. We trust Him. We show our love for Him by keeping His commandments and by honoring sacred covenants.
As we find a way to truly behold the Man and seek to be more like Him, we will find the doorway to life’s greatest joys and the balm to life’s most demanding despairs.
Every time we treat someone with dignity rather than shame, respect rather than disregard, concern rather than exploitation, kindness rather than brutality, and careful attention rather than turning away, we are doing things that are the reverse of trauma and evil.
@LatterDayRaider I feel your burden...atleast part of it. You are doing the right thing...looking to inspired words, from those who lead us...and going to the House of the Lord, which will help you with clarity and purpose. This will be for a small moment...you are enduring it well. God bless u
On Friday, we can remember that Jesus Christ was crucified. But even in His suffering, He offered forgiveness. Is there an old grudge or resentment that is weighing you down? Today, ask the Lord for help to ease the burden you’re carrying. #GreaterLove
As we enter in this new year, let us prepare for an Easter celebration of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ culminating in His Resurrection—the most glorious event in history—and contemplate our own future resurrection.
How grateful I am for the profound meaning of the universal Resurrection, which is made possible by the great plan and the boundless love of God the Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. #GreaterLove
@ValaAfshar The book he references is How Will You Measure Your Life? It is as good s that story he just told. Here’s his Ted Talk on that topic…gives you a bit more of what the book is like. https://t.co/06XcN8m26J
