They still have to meet the eligibility and residence requirements and register.

What you're proposing is removing the vote from qualifying Commonwealth citizens who may have lived here for decades — and empowering polling officers to decide whether voters speak enough English to get a ballot.

You're not protecting British democracy from foreigners. You're deciding which legally resident people count as British enough to participate in it.

Even the boldest of these draft resolutions – such as the one from the Annandale and Eskdale branch – doesn't go far enough. Why give the Section 30 process one final chance? Don't people realise that by requesting a Section 30 order, the First Minister is acceding to the alien doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty? He is thereby denying the sovereignty of the people of Scotland. In any nation educated about its own constitutional tradition, that would be called treason.
