It’s being reported that Andy Burnham has delayed any welfare reforms until next year at the earliest.
Typical Labour.
Workers face another tax assault at the budget because he’s too cowardly to slash the ballooning benefits bill.
This is an epic gaffe. Who advises these people? The Good Friday Agreement won the support of the majority in both traditions on this island. He doesn’t get s veto, and should apologise for this clumsy intervention and be rebuked by the Irish Government.
@RobertJenrick Jenrick singling out Pakistan and Bangladesh is intellectually dishonest. The voting rules apply to qualifying Commonwealth citizens from dozens of countries. If his argument is about the law, name the law. If it’s about certain ethnicities, say so.
Guess who else is allowed👇🏾
‘Someone can arrive tomorrow and immediately vote’ is a wonderfully dishonest way of describing the law.
They still have to meet the eligibility and residence requirements and register.
What you're proposing is removing the vote from qualifying Commonwealth citizens who may have lived here for decades — and empowering polling officers to decide whether voters speak enough English to get a ballot.
You're not protecting British democracy from foreigners. You're deciding which legally resident people count as British enough to participate in it.
@RobertJenrick It’s strange you don’t mention that immigrants from Australia, New Zealand and Canada can vote in UK elections if they have permission to stay, Bob.
Almost like it’s about the colour of their skin for you.
The SNP have just released a 'Draft Bill for Indyref2'
If this is the first you've heard about it, I don't blame you. No one cares: the country has moved on.
HOWEVER- the SNP haven't- and as long as they are in Government they will keep trying to force us into an unwanted Indyref
Even the boldest of these draft resolutions – such as the one from the Annandale and Eskdale branch – doesn't go far enough. Why give the Section 30 process one final chance? Don't people realise that by requesting a Section 30 order, the First Minister is acceding to the alien doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty? He is thereby denying the sovereignty of the people of Scotland. In any nation educated about its own constitutional tradition, that would be called treason.
The SNP leadership doesn't want a proper debate on a strategy for restoring Scotland's independence because such a debate would inevitably reveal their cluelessness. They don't have a strategy for restoring Scotland's independence. They have never had a strategy for restoring Scotland's rightful constitutional status. They have shown not the slightest interest in developing a strategy. Their interest begins and ends with clinging to their seats and the rewards this entails.
Will the SNP membership finally cut the strings and stop behaving like puppets? Every year for the last twelve years the thinking part of the independence movement has waited in the hope of a revolt at the party's conference. Every year, we've been disappointed. As with everything else concerning the SNP, it's best to keep one's expectations at floor level.

Andy Burnham has made a very good start BUT telling people in Scotland, Wales and N Ireland there is no democratic route to a referendum on their own future is neither credible nor sustainable.
It’s as if the GFA didn’t exist.
The one thing you can be sure of when dealing with the British is deceitfulness, duplicity and fraud.

Two serving police officers dead on the A66 after a wrong-way crash tied to organised crime and a car full of young men carrying 37 prior convictions between them, including assaults on police.
Yet Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, Zia Yusuf and Rupert Lowe, the professional outrage merchants who never miss a chance to rage about law and order, have gone almost completely quiet.
The same voices that explode over every other crime story suddenly find the mute button when the victims are police officers and the perpetrators do not fit the preferred narrative.
Selective silence is still a statement.
What is your theory?
@MccailColl 🤦♂️ is there anybody daft enough to believe this shite, burnham has just literally stuck 2 fingers up to 🏴🏴N🇮🇪 with his 🇬🇧 🤣 tour that only included 🏴,
You need to have a different level of contempt for yourself to accept that nonsense.
Bomber Burnham is going to deeply regret telling N. Ireland that Irish unity is off the table. The NI have a clear, legal basis for a referendum. No court is going to rule otherwise. And once NI leaves a precedent is set for Scots & Welsh to follow.
@SimonHarrisMBD I'd love to believe all that, but according to the @BBCScotlandNews Glasgow is a perpetual war zone with violent criminals roaming the streets. I'm surprised you were able to get a round without a police escort 😆
@pressjournal Aberdeen was the energy capital of 🇪🇺,it was tories that destroyed NSea a tax grab in 2011 to line WMinsters coffers, 60,000 jobs lost

The media are desperate to pretend that Farage isn’t the establishment, so i’ve written an article explaining why he is.
Can we get it shared 1000 times??
Thanks 🙏
