Outside activity is critical to our well-being! The choice board for this week explores topics such as sun safety and ticks. Use your child's HWDSB login to access the document. Have an active and safe summer!!!
The June 15-19 choice board explores fundamental movement skills. When you build competence with these skills it gives you the ability to participate in MANY different activities. Our body is our forever home - let's figure out what it can do!
This week we explore the role of our inner coach and positive self-talk. Learning happens when we have the tools to persist! Our Jump Rope for ❤️ event is postponed but the choice board has the link to the skipping posters. Skipping is a great way to explore positive self talk!
The June 1-5 choice board explores games through the lens of The Zones of Regulation. When we learn to manage our emotions, we are able to participate to the best of our ability. It is never just about physical skills!!!
The May 25-29 Choice Board explores goal setting. We don't have to look very far for inspiration! Canada is home to athletes who are transferring the skills they developed as athletes, into skills used on the coronavirus front lines. https://t.co/aDElw16JFv
As William Thackeray said, "A good laugh is sunshine in the house." The May 19-22 choice board will hopefully bring some into your home. Try Kleenex Freeze Dance or Sock Balance and see what happens!
This week the choice board is all about being creative in our physical activity choices as well as exploring ways to manage big feelings. When we make it our own, it has more meaning😊
The May 4-8 Choice Board is all about classic games you can play anywhere! Try one of the hand clapping or movement bingo games. Be active, communicate and cooperate 😀
Hello Cootes Families! If you have time to fill time in your day, have a look at the PE, Media and Music choice board. It comes via your classroom teacher every Monday. Make sure to watch the safety video before you do any moving!
Grade 1 & 2 students are using their belly button to help develop an understanding of how to effectively receive an object. We are also being sure to use our ready position! Ask your child to explain these pictures to you😀
We have concluded our exploration of indoor target activities. Ask your child which equipment they used and what they did with it. Some hints...spaghetti and meatballs (basic and advanced), make your own game and Bombardment. We are lucky to have great equipment at Cootes!
It's a great day for bean bag curling and shuffleboard! Having a variety of targets allows students the opportunity to modify the game to suit their interests and abilities. We are exploring how much force we need when sending an object - not as easy as it looks😉
Grade 1-5 students are exploring target activities. Has your family tried any target games? Curling, bowling, golf, shuffleboard, archery and frisbee golf are just some ideas!
FDK students had a great time exploring the snow at Churchill Park! We had so much fun making footprints in the untouched snow. We made sure to take the time to relax and feel the sun on our cheeks😀
This week, FDK students added a new piece of equipment and a new way to manipulate the equipment. Ask your child to share what they found out! We also practised using our polite words BEFORE we used our hands when we wanted to switch equipment😍
Grade 1 and 2 students are practising inviting peers to join their hoop. Similar to musical chairs, except when we take a hoop away, it means we include MORE friends! A great skill to transfer to the playground😉
