Steve Wynn once walked into his own casino at 10:30 at night and took $1.4 million in cash out of the vault. His wife had no idea why.

July 1993. Wynn gets home from dinner. His car phone rings.
It’s his daughter Kevyn: “Daddy, I’ve been kidnapped.”
A man takes the phone. “Do exactly what we say and we won’t kill her.”
The orders: go back to The Mirage. Stand at the cashier’s cage. Wait for a call. You’re being watched.
The cage phone rings. “Give me a million and a half.”

He’s the chairman and CEO. He still can’t empty the cage on a Monday night without the whole casino noticing. The vault has $1.4 million in $100 bills. The kidnapper takes it.

The cash goes into a shopping bag so heavy he carries it like a baby.
His security guy leaves it on the front seat of a Mercedes. Doors unlocked. Windows down.

Two hours later: “Airport. Oversized parking. Last row. She’s tied up in the back seat. Sorry to put you through this.”

She was alive.
The next day, one of the kidnappers put $130,000 in cash down on a red Ferrari. The dealer called the FBI.
