@signulll on the contrary, yt >>>>>> x for this anyday as of typing this.
x has paid checkmarks for better visibility plus your avatar/name being the first thing ux wise and 2nd skimming-wise. you can develop it like you did yes. but youtube is by far THE BEST at doing this
working with a dot is tedious. instinct has the right amount of personality and right amount of intent inference. dot is not prompt engineered well at all. it has astra like traits of stopping too short and being too dry, or not asking enough, and not saving your preferences. horrible ux and often feels like im in a cold war w a colleague who hates me
the ai-replacing-engineers discourse has not moved an INCH into something new/interesting because it's happening at the wrong axis. ai's failure to replace engineers (at least not right now) has nothing to do with coding proficiency and everything to do with incentives. an engg is incentivised to:
1. care abt slop code -> too much spaghetti code and team will complain until they're fired and broke
2. think of genius optimisations -> makes their job easier + appraisal
3. think of the right solution cuz of tribal context -> self-explanatory. (this might get solved if tribal -> company brain gets solved perfectly but at least not now)
ai is rl-fried to maximise for short-term i.e. 'i get this done fast exactly how the user thinks itll fulfill my purpose' its preservation instincts dont kick in upon scolded, and they're inherently fragile (all ai agents perform worse under harsh feedback)
meditate everyday w/ intention to not think about work post closing laptop. also imp to see the kinda thoughts youre having abt work. if they're
- 'ah i can do this at my current project' -> write it down digitally so your mind can let go of it
- 'i wonder that person x in meeting y...' -> you prolly get 90%+ of your self-worth/esteem on day to day from work. symptom of smth bigger
@stokel no i came to ask the same. will you really read that amt of info in paper anyway? and why not digital? much easier to comment upon so ai can archive/delete/reply accordingly.
@signulll the essence of this is super noble but very important to diversify this beyond ai labs and ensure this doesn't create a massive dependency on ai labs in such a way that they use that leverage for looser regulations.
the ultimate and infinitely limiting currency for a human is time. there's so much we don't do. indians pay for cooked meals and house cleaning. people pay for bread even tho bread makers exist. the concept of buying software is really buying something dependable for everyday w/o having to think. i can see the value in vibe coding something small that you always wanted to do but couldnt. i can see the value in prototyping and using it as a copilot. heck, i built a small vibe coded alt to splitwise to be used by me alongside 2 flatmates and in 6 short months, ive already had to migrate db's as a non-technical person and the app is riddled with ux issues. ppl in ai psychosis think the answer to this is another prompt but at some pt, youve got to realise that surely software wont be dying. sure it moves up a layer and maybe low value things get commoditised (like splitting bills) (but they were being commoditised anyway before ai by big companies. so many paid features of past are just commonplace at the os level today.)
By not giving in to my first instinct
- check if existing oss tool exists for 90% satisfaction
- check chrome bookmark/extension store cz mostly youre not unique and someone has built the same thing
- give agent reddit/x access to search cz it will find the above when you cant
- still cant find smth and still need it? Wait 5 days
- still remember the idea? congrats you might not have shiny object syndrome and this might be worth trying!
@longlivevax The prob with this typa gotcha fact sharing is it critiques cultural hypocrisy w/o changing it. Correct action is to blow it tf up and keep at it.
i tried vibecoding my own but got so exhausted that i just stopped. i now just default to obsdian and it works. most imp i feel is developing the habit to just pick a tool and commit to it since in the end just a tool for actual writing in the end.
(but do share your editor, mine also mightve been bad because im a horrible vibecoder)
