Btw the two here are Gurriel and Kepler. Gurriel is somewhat arguable, but Kepler shouldn’t be. Barrosa offers no offense, but has defense, speed, and can play in October. Kepler offers no offense, no defense, no speed, and can’t play in October.
@DrSublime Barrosa would provide defense and pinch running, even in the playoffs
Kepler doesn’t provide that nor offense and can’t play in the playoffs
Lourdes is a toss up
@GoldyHappens@BryceStant61389@dbacksprospectz And now it’s up to 50 and he’s targeting 60. Cole threw 72 in his first outing back. Pitchers will typically focus on command, as that’s the hardest thing to get back following TJ. If his velo is like this after a few outings, that’s concerning. Right now, I’m not as worried tho
@GoldyHappens “Most” not all. Some pitches rehab different ways. Especially since Burnes fastball is a cutter, it relies on movement and command more than velocity. The velocity will come with more game action
@GoldyHappens@BryceStant61389@dbacksprospectz The work he hasn’t been getting done in games, he gets done in the bullpen after his outing. We see the tweet that he threw in the bridge game, and then the rest of his pitches were in the bullpen. If his velocity is way down in his first couple game back, then I’d be concerned
@GoldyHappens He’ll be throwing 60 pitches most likely in his first start. Also most pitchers don’t instantly throw their max velocity when they come back, especially in a bridge game or bullpen session. Assuming Burnes can get 3 more starts, he’ll probably be near 80-90 by playoff time.
@darrylavid99@SleeperDbacks@sodpoodles Yea he’s Jorge Barrosa if Barrosa had 5 more HR, .64 higher AVG, 39 more RBI, 29 more SB, .32 higher SLG, a higher OPS, 13 more XBH, and even better defense.
