Mk sm ps2 vertex lighting :

This is a break down showing how Mk vertex lighting looked like, i managed to show it in realtime by changing the shader:
#ps2 #gamedev #vertexLighting #blender #nostalgic #3d

MK portal animation in blender (ps2 model) with classic vertex lighting:

@WeVennStudios You can either hand-paint the vertex colors or bake them in Blender. To bake them, you need to use Cycles.

I've tried here to show different part with text of how this is rendered enjoy :)

@BlaziumGames but it won't be good with such low poly mesh

[CoreImpact @Coreimpact_dev]

@BlaziumGames this thing needs some vertex lighting 😀

[CoreImpact @Coreimpact_dev]

@GoldCageStudio Yeah, i've always liked the atmosphere; it feel more immersive then today games where they heavily use pbr
but i think what make old games look that is photo based texturing and vertex lighting or lightmaps (they use low res maps)

Lighting in playstation 2 games was something, vertex lighting. i've been fascinated by how this things work , i've always tried to understand how they achieved such good atmosphere in games like gow and pop #pop #vertex_lighting #gamedev #ps2 #lighting #blender

@WeVennStudios for the alpha u take the color attribute and take the alpha from it and put in ur shader alpha channel

[CoreImpact @Coreimpact_dev]

vertex alpha painting
#blender #gamedev #ps2 #vertexLighting #3d #godofwar

[CoreImpact @Coreimpact_dev]

@WeVennStudios the vertex colors in the shader ?
it's basiclly :
albedo = VertexColor * Texture
the colors u can bake them from a light or hand paint them

[CoreImpact @Coreimpact_dev]

About alpha vertex paintin, here is an example :

I’ve always been fascinated by how lighting was achieved in older PS2-era games. Last year, I spent a few months studying the techniques they used, and I’d like to share some images showcasing what I found.
