I told my sixth grade son we were gonna talk about "suicide" and his whole expression changed immediately.

And honestly… I get it.

It’s a scary word for a 12-year-old.
It’s a scary word for a lot of adults too.

But it made me think…

If we want kids to know it’s okay to ask for help, how do we make these conversations feel normal instead of terrifying?

I don’t think avoiding the word helps.

I think being open about it might.
