It’s not change that’s hard.
It’s HOW we think about change that’s hard - & what matters most.
We welcome the changes we like. We resist the changes we don’t like.
Team members will rarely think more positively about change, or lead it better than their senior-most leaders.
Some part of all of us strives to be perfect, and yet we dislike and distrust it in others. Perfect is artificial and theatrical.

Being radically present means the other person’s needs come profoundly, irrevocably, first.
It’s what people need from you as their leader.
It’s what your teams need.
It’s what the organization’s strategy and vision need.

Hope is a strategy, sometimes because it’s all we have.
Other times because it sharpens our focus on an outcome. For some of us, hope is the precursor to possibility, it widens our view, and grants us more safe bandwidth for risk.
#strategy#leadershipdevelopment
People want to join leaders they know, trust and who they see as acknowledging their skills and giving them room to grow.
It’s one thing to want that leader, and another to realize we must become that leader.

Setting goals for the year?
Approaching goal setting with a mindset of experimentation helps us stay open to learning, to changing course according to what’s learned.
Only then can we try the next experiment w/o the constraints of ‘getting it perfect the first time.’

Being radically present means your focus is profoundly, irrevocably, on the other person.
It’s what people need from you as their leader. It’s what your teams need. It’s what the organization’s strategy and vision need from you as a leader.
At a certain level, leadership is 90% leading human beings and 10% managing/improving processes.
It is ALL about people, interactions, and creating a safe space for people to do their highest, best work. #leadership
Be you—with your brilliance, and gifts and strengths, and your flat sides, awkwardness—be genuine. It takes courage to be simply who you are, but when leaders try to be something they are not, everyone knows.
As a leader, people are always watching you.
Learn people’s names and something about them. Use flash cards and practice as if you’re studying for the big exam, because that’s what leadership is, every day—a test of the degree to which you are the person you say you are, who inspires and develops people towards results.
You’ve made it when each person who has invested their trust in you as their leader cannot tell their own leadership story without linking your name to their success. #leadership
