Read these books to a class of young readers yesterday. Some shared heartbreakingly close connections to “long and terrible war” as it was described in the first book. But maybe peace feels like the safety to share and connect and remember together. So grateful for peace today.
Subbed in a grade 1/2 class today. S: I’m hungry, can I go get my snack from my bag? T: Let’s see, what did you bring? S: I have a Pepsi! I’m sure I was not the only teacher having a similar convo at 9:00 am today 😂👏#dayafterhalloween
This week has felt a bit like this maze: in addition to PE, I’ve taught the Pythagorean Theorem in two languages, the parts of a cell in French, and a Mondrian art project. Who knows what tomorrow will bring! #generalist
Yesterday’s gig started with me getting hit in the head with a football and ended with an ambulance being called for a student with a potentially dislocated shoulder. Go tell a PE teacher that you appreciate them! #physicaleducation
Le première fois que j'ai rencontré Frisson l'écureuil c'était quand j’enseignais “connecting” avec ma class. J’adorais, mais en Français il est plus mignon! ☺️ #frenchlearner@Scaredybooks
A grade 8 ELA student articulated to me today: “I liked this book because it’s about LGTBQ I’m also in the community.” Wow. Language, identity, community and representation in books at school. What a profound and positive shift from my own school days! @lxgino @SHJH_FALCONS
I never know quite what to expect when I go to a new school for the first time. This early morning rainbow at Brookside Junior High was a surprise. I decided it was a good omen, and sure enough I had a terrific day here!
@PRESPrincipal Thank you so much for taking the time to welcome me at my alma mater, Petite Rivière Elementary today. It was so inspiring to hear about all the positive changes and goals being made with kids’ interests at heart. What a special school!
The creative energy in this group is blowing me away as #studio4 students work on expressing their identities through symbolic self-portraits. #ishcmcib#hweo
