@TonyEvans92a @Tesco If you have your receipts they will normally cancel the fine. Have had this happen to me a couple of times and were written off immediately when they saw the times on the receipts

Hotel overbooking. I have been talking to a wizard of the dark art of revenue management, @CorinB, about selling more rooms than there are in the hotel. Overbooking is much more likely at corporate hotels in cities than small, family-run country locations.

@SimonCalder It is rare that hotels actually have to book out but when this happens they have responsibility to ensure guests are relocated in a similar standard of hotel or better - many luxury hotels will cover the cost of the room in addition to transportation.

@SimonCalder I look after loads of hotels and this is normal revenue management. In busy cities there’s a very degree of corporate and group business that has a predictable certainty of late cancellation or no-show. Hotel rooms are perishable items so the hotels have to protect themselves
