Saber says the story was "written entirely by real people." It also admits one mode uses AI because passengers are infinite.

The Steam page carries no AI disclosure. Valve requires one.

Then CEO Matt Karch answered a reporter. "Stella who? I had to ask Claude because I have never spoken to her or seen her."

He would have been happy to replace her with AI, he added, because that would at least be "someone programmed to be honest."

Quake 4: Awakening was built at Ritual and cancelled when the base game undersold. One of its developers says it was "95% done." Everyone assumed it was gone.

Justin Marshall found a build on the hard drive of a vintage computer he ordered. He is a programmer on XCOM 2, and one of the people this industry laid off.

"Literally this essentially saved my life, I was going through a divorce."

He put it on GitHub. Three missions, a cryo cannon, a mech level.

Nobody who owns Quake preserved this. A laid-off programmer and a stranger's old hard drive did.

"not out of resistance."

Then he compared his studio to Christopher Nolan shooting on old technology.

The promise covers assets. Nobody said anything about code.

A player was quizzing Google's search AI about Operation Octo for laughs. The answers kept coming back too specific for a game that small.

So its solo developer had him ask about unannounced content.

The AI returned "Vantage Tripod." An unreleased character. He says the name lived in exactly one place, a private Google Doc. Not in the code, not in the game files, not on Steam.

Google told Polygon it does not scan private Drive or Docs content to train Gemini.

Nobody can test it now. Since his post went viral, the AI answers "Vantage Tripod" and cites that post as its source.

NVIDIA SELLS THE WORLD ITS AI COMPUTE. RUNNING A MODEL ON NVIDIA'S OWN CLOUD MEANT BREAKING IN THROUGH A FREE-TO-PLAY MMO.

Zortos and dpadGuy published the method on 31 July. Inside a GeForce NOW session of Trove, you swap one executable using Steam's built-in browser.

What opens instead of the game is a full Windows desktop. Taskbar, icons, Wallpaper Engine running on NVIDIA's machine.

Then they ran Gemma 4 on it. NVIDIA does not allow that.

It is barely usable. Sessions are time-limited, downloads get blocked, and opening File Explorer kills the session. Trove is already disappearing from people's libraries.

The GPU was always capable. The subscription decided what you were allowed to ask it.
