In Division 4 - Buttevant are promoted, Aghada are relegated. Very tight with 10 or 11 points being enough for promotion and 8 might not be enough to survive
The last day will effectively see a League semi-final between Carbery Rangers and Knocknagree. 5 teams go into the final day with relegation concerns but all 5 will feel a win should be enough to survive.
One win (3 total points) may also be enough for Tipp if they beat Clare next weekend. However this would require Clare not to beat Cork on the final day, a Cork team that would already have qualified for a Munster final and a game which would be do or die for Clare
For Tipp, two wins will guarantee a Munster final. 3 more points (4 in total) will very very likely be enough to qualify. If Tipp are beaten this weekend by Clare, then they will be out unless Waterford pick up at least a draw against Limerick.
If Tipp lose to Clare, and Waterford beat Limerick, then Tipp will still have it in their own hands on the final day against Limerick as they will know going into that match how much they need to win by to progress on score difference.
If Waterford finish on 3 pts and Clare lose twice, then the worst Waterford will be is in a tie for third with Tipp or they could be third alone if Tipp beat Limerick.
For Waterford, its out of their hands now. They need to beat Limerick next weekend and hope other results go their way. There are a bunch of scenarios where 3 pts may be enough for Waterford. For example, if both Tipp and Cork were to beat Clare.
For Clare, a win next weekend against Tipp will definitely be enough to qualify from Munster. But there are scenarios where a defeat against Tipp and a win against Cork will not be enough. For example, if Tipp got at least a draw against Limerick on the final day.
For Limerick, one more win will likely do to qualify from Munster. A win against Tipp on the final day will definitely be enough. A win next weekend against Waterford will be enough assuming there is a winner in the other tie between Tipp and Clare.
Cork will be in the Munster final unless Clare and Limerick both win their two remaining matches, in which case all three will be tied on 6 pts and score difference will decide who reaches the Munster final
Waterford permutation: At home to Tipp next week. Win and they are safe. Lose and they are relegated. A draw and their fate is out of their hands with no game on the last day. Would need either (i) Tipp to beat KK or (ii) KK to beat Tipp by 14 or more for Waterford to survive
Hurling League Permutations:A draw or better in the last game against Offaly will guarantee a final spot for Cork. A defeat would leave Cork hoping Limerick pick up at least a draw against Galway. If Cork lose and Galway win, then Cork will likely miss out on score difference
Kilkenny permutations: If Tipp beat Waterford next week, then KK are safe. If Waterford beat Tipp, then KK and Tipp on the final night is a relegation decider with KK needing a win most likely.
And we are back. Popped down to PUC on Tuesday for the @mig_ie Cork Football Championships launch. Spoke to a few players, then went through the weekend's action where I probably got everything wrong. Available wherever you get your podcasts.
