CHALA, TAITA TAVETA COUNTY, KENYA
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2026
Construction of the 5.6 billion shillings 66 kilometer Taveta- Chala -Njukini- Rombo-Ilasit-Loitoktok highway is underway at an impressive pace, expected to be complete on 31 December 2026, six months ahead of schedule.
Residents of Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties have asked for the tarmacking of this road for over 30 years, in vain. This adminstration promised to do it in 2022, and that promise is now being actualised.
The critical transport artery connects the agriculturally rich Taita Taveta - Kajiado belt along the Kenya- Tanzania border, enabling trade, people to people ties and drastically reducing road time for travellers between Taveta and Nairobi.
On the Taveta side, 16.5 kilometers are done and crucial earthworks are beyond kilometer 22.
Inspected ongoing works on the Taita Taveta side with Taveta MP John Bwire, Taita Taveta Woman MP Haika Mizighi and other local leaders.
Later addressed members of the public at Challa market, next to the Lake Challa Crater Lake, near the Kenya- Tanzania border.
Informed them that the Government has cleared 177 billion shillings that had accumulated as pending bills in the road sector since 2020, stalling over 6,000 kilometers of road. Those roads will now be completed and enough resources have been earmarked to construct more roads as Kenya races to achieve first world economic status in one generation.
To return for inspection of works on the Kajiado side.
I saw someone ask a question I ask myself daily
What exactly is the concept of life
You are born, school, graduate, repeat home and work till you retire then wait for death if you survive all through
Isn't it crazy?
The contractor's QS should not only record this event, but he should also document and report it. Can it not be used as a reason to ask for an extension of time ? Or what do you think? Wait.....I don't care what you think.... see you in Arbitration

MID-TERM REVIEW - THE PLAN - TALANTA STADIUM INSPECTION
President @WilliamsRuto inspects the construction of Talanta Stadium.
The last time Kenya built a large and modern stadium was in 1987.
Talanta Stadium is on course for completion.
While at it, thousands of jobs have been created.
@IamMutati For entry level... it is your role to train the Qs. If you can't train, then stop looking around, do it yourself. Do you expect someone to have knowledge of all available software? Wait.... how much are you paying the graduate Qs?
