This is a beautiful piece @nowaraga. It makes me feel like you’re watching my everyday work steps, but in a good and caring way that makes me feel safe and encouraged to keep pushing on.
Today one of the donors for the ongoing surgical camp said: “This is my first time seeing an ophthalmologist taking time to review all her postoperative patients in a surgical camp”.
I just smiled and told her, ‘Just because it’s a free camp doesn’t mean quality should be compromised. I want the poor and vulnerable to experience the same quality of eye care services that the rich people receive.’
It’s never easy but reading and hearing such encouraging words really mean a lot to me. Thank you.🫂🫂
Gulu Streets are about to get lit again.
Hopefully we have prompt maintenance to keep the lights up and running but above all protect them from vandalism.

We are implementing smarter, technology-driven electricity systems across the national power grid to strengthen reliability, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service delivery for our customers. Through advanced grid modernization solutions, we are reducing energy losses, minimizing costly equipment failures, and improving real-time monitoring and response across the network.
These strategic investments are enabling faster fault detection, quicker power restoration, and a more stable electricity supply for homes, businesses, and industries across Uganda. By integrating intelligent, data-driven systems, we are also empowering customers to better manage and optimize their electricity consumption, improving convenience, efficiency, and overall customer experience.

During the panel discussion on “Expanding Bilateral Trade and Removing Market Barriers,” Humphrey Asiimwe, CEO of Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals, highlighted key opportunities and challenges shaping trade and investment between Uganda and Zambia.
He pointed out gaps in logistics, connectivity, and energy linkages, noting that while Zambia faces growing energy demand, Uganda has surplus energy capacity that can be leveraged through strengthened regional connectivity and cooperation.
Mr. Asiimwe also emphasized the importance of jointly developing policies and reforms, particularly in local content frameworks, stressing that these strategies should extend beyond national levels to regional blocs such as the East African Community and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.
He further underscored the value of partnerships and regional collaboration, citing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline as a strong example of successful cross-border cooperation. He also called for the establishment of business hubs to enable shared knowledge, skills transfer, and innovation between the two countries.
In addition, he highlighted Uganda’s vast investment opportunities in agriculture, mining, tourism, and energy, as well as the country’s growing capacity in local content development, investor-friendly environment, accessible markets, and relatively streamlined land acquisition processes for foreign investors.
