This is the most excoriating sentence in a blistering column ‘We would not be here if western reporters and Joe Biden hadn’t manufactured consent for the genocide by repeating the incendiary lie that Hamas had beheaded babies’ https://t.co/jjXFlhZxob
Israeli PM says the plan to seize all of the Gaza Strip will be ‘intensive’ and ‘indefinite’ There’ll be a significant displacement of people https://t.co/U7OAJSDRVX
With the Chinese navy knocking on the door and no one from our Government seemingly asking them what they’re up to, quibbling over spending seems a bit silly. Anyone getting the Chinese Ambassador on the phone whaea?
I’m finding it slightly weird to have to defend allegations that our government cut defence spending last year. We didn’t. Defence received an extra $571 million in the 2024 budget.
What commentators don’t seem to realise is that, having already paid for the new Hercules, we didn’t need to pay for them a second time.
It’s just like a car. Pay once! So we didn’t get the same capital funding for Hercules since we’d already paid for them.
That $571 million included a $163 million in extra remuneration for our uniform personnel.
I am looking forward to our new fully funded Defence Capability plan which will show the commitment needed.
David responds: “I find Mrs Shipley’s comments quite revealing. Many New Zealanders sell second-hand cars and do it with integrity. Many New Zealanders drive second-hand cars. What these comments reveal to me is a distain for ordinary people from Mrs Shipley. The Treaty Principles Bill is about the simple idea that we are all equal and should all have an equal say on our constitutional future. That is democracy. I did not hear Mrs Shipley explain what is wrong with the proposed principles, or the idea that every New Zealander deserves to have a say on them.”

NOT OK for the All Blacks or RNZ to allow such blatant politicization of a national team that is meant to unify our nation not divide. The NZ government in my opinion needs to investigate and penalize those responsible through fine and/or withhold funds & demand an apology. NOW
“The treaty is an agreement between the Crown & Māori. It is not an agreement between races,” says former Attorney General Chris Finlayson AND everybody who knows anything about Te Tiriti.
This is so disheartening - Aaron has done exceptional work on abuse in care and is literally just doing his job by asking tough questions. Govt bars journalist from abuse apology at Parliament https://t.co/bMlVjoMrW1
Today marks the grim anniversary of the Marikana police shooting of 34 miners in Sth Africa, an event seared into the collective memory of a nation and all those who witnessed it. Thinking of all the widows and kids and my old SA collegues, xoxo https://t.co/xL7xfiacgO
