Oregon and Washington State are pretty much the only states with resident flocks of Ring-necked Duck present all year round, so great to find a flock of around 15 on Trillium Lake, Oregon with Steller’s, Gray and Western Scrub Jays too.
Further north than Anchorage in Alaska lies Trondheim, Norway’s third largest city. The magnificent St Olav’s cathedral was commenced in the 11th century and became Norway’s premier cathedral. After serious fire damage it was restored to its present glory in the 19th c.
In a single day in Norway you can pass from high summer to mid-winter. As seen today from the Lom to Sogndalsfjora road which rises to 4,500 feet as it crosses the Jotunheimen massif
Even when the weather isn’t great Norway manages to look stunning. The scenery here is magnificent. This is the Naeroyfjord, one of two fjords recognised by UNESCO for their outstanding beauty
