It'd be interesting to see what they manage to do before the match. I arrived to Mexico City a day ago and did a 10k run this morning at 2300mosl and felt surprisingly good (I did a 3k tempo effort with similar numbers to sea level) However it is true that often the 3rd day is the toughest on performance. However I just spent 10 days in Cancun training in +30c and 90% humidity, did mostly base running with dashes of speed and a few i4 interval runs + weight lifting. I wonder if this prior heat training helped me prepare to the altitude? Now I'm even higher in the mountains and will see how training feels tomorrow. Mexico is winning 2-0 btw

Como mexicano, después de casi 5 años viviendo en Noruega, tengo muchas observaciones culturales, empezaré a compartir algunas por aquí.

La Paradoja de la Felicidad: Independencia Nórdica vs. Interdependencia Latina

1. El Modelo Individualista (El Caso de Noruega)

* Diseño: Una sociedad estructurada para alcanzar la máxima autosuficiencia e independencia individual.

* La Dinámica: El Estado de bienestar es tan robusto que se encarga de resolver casi todas las necesidades básicas, estructurales y asistenciales. En pocas palabras no "necesitas" a nadie porque o tú te resuelves o el estado te resuelve.

* La Paradoja: Aunque los índices globales de "felicidad" y calidad de vida son altísimos (porque lo básico está cubierto sin generarte mucho estrés), personalmente percibo un descontento profundo. Tal vez al eliminar la fricción de necesitar al otro, se aísla al individuo. Las instituciones cubren lo superficial, pero son incapaces de satisfacer las necesidades profundas del la persona.

2. El Modelo Interdependiente (El Caso de México)

* Diseño (?) : Una sociedad donde la autosuficiencia extrema es casi imposible y el sistema obliga a la interdependencia.

* La Dinámica: Las personas constantemente dependen de su red comunitaria (amigos, vecinos, familia) para resolver problemas cotidianos (ayudar a cambiar una llanta, cuidar a los hijos de improviso, echarle la mano a un enfermo, o simplemente tomar un café para desahogarse).

* El Resultado: A pesar de tener menores índices de "calidad de vida" técnica o seguridad estatal, existe un tejido social cálido y robusto. La constante fricción (positiva y/o negativa) y la necesidad mutua en lo "superficial" obliga a la gente a conectar.

3. Mi Teoría Central:

* El puente entre lo superficial y lo profundo: El acto constante de apoyarse mutuamente en necesidades cotidianas o superficiales puede ser el verdadero vehículo que crea conexiones auténticas incluso aunque estas sean temporales.

* Al tejer una red de favores y ayuda diaria (como en México), se terminan solventando de manera orgánica las necesidades profundas del ser humano, como el sentido de pertenencia, el amor fraternal, el propósito y el afecto real.

En otras palabras; actos "pequeños" comunitarios y constantes llenan discretamente el tanque de la necesidad profunda. Por el otro lado, la independencia y aislamiento mantienen ese tanque vacío.

* Conclusión y en mi opinión: La verdadera "felicidad" profunda no se legisla ni se subsidia; nace de necesitar y ser necesitado por tu comunidad. No puedes satisfacer las necesidades profundas del alma sin antes compartir las fricciones superficiales del día a día con quienes conforman tu sociedad.

@DataRepublican @DeputySecState It takes only a visit to US and then to a European country and see how different immigrants have integrated. In the US you'll see them starting a business, joining the army, going into politics and successfully integrating within the 2nd generation. Integration policies matter.

Well, truth is the people living in the palace aren't elites, they're power sick, absolutely incompetent and resented lowlives.

The people mobilizing are students, young adults, older citizens, mothers, farmers, blue and white collar professionals, health workers.. all with a cry saying: if the people can't have justice; then the government won't have peace.

As a Mexican citizen I welcome all international efforts to face these cartles that have become a cancer in our country, however I'd like to see the same intensity and enthusiasm from US officials towards REDUCING the local consumption of drugs! Otherwise new cartels, either in Mexico or elsewhere, will raise to meet the demand. Or maybe that's the idea? Seize means of the production, keep the money from leaving the country?

Do not confuse British colonization with the Spanish one. Yours (the British) wiped out a culture and civilization and enslaved and killed many more children. The Spanish founded, with the help of other native tribes (who were against the aztecs) what was once the most important (even over Madrid) city in their empire, Mexico City. Mexico was the New Spain, with a Viceroy. Mexico is a result of a successful culture mixing, keeping the best of both worlds alive, not only a colonizing one. The Aztecs were beaten by 300-500 Spanish soldiers backed by over 200,000 allied tribes who were tired of the aztec bloodshed.
