La paz no significa únicamente el silencio de las armas. Es también el derecho a vivir sin miedo, a disfrutar de seguridad, dignidad, educación, salud y un futuro esperanzador. La paz es ese horizonte en el que los niños, en lugar de buscar refugio, pueden acudir a la escuela; en el que las familias, en vez de temer los bombardeos y el desplazamiento, pueden planear su futuro; y en el que las naciones destinan sus recursos al desarrollo y al bienestar colectivo, y no a la destrucción.
