@DAaronovitch@adrianmckinty The City of London (square mile) has a daytime population of 0.5million and a typical annual murder count of ... zero.
You do the math.
Was thinking just the same. Is it fear of Rights violation, fair use ignorance or just the desire for a "better" photo and a more photogenic hero? Also the beer seems to be an embellishment.

The Letterman interview is on YouTube.
“It is hard to know what would be worse: if we are being deliberately lied to, or if these retired officers and security ‘experts’ heralding imminent victory for Ukraine actually believe this nonsense. Most probably, the political, bureaucratic, media, academic and think tank consensus in Europe has now become so monolithic and absolute that they do believe it, since nobody is saying anything different. To find alternative, more realistic voices, all too often one regrettably has to turn to the populist right.”

The other, of course, involves orcs."
If you want to know what sort of person DAVID NIVEN (who left us 43yrs ago today, aged 73) was, the largest wreath at his funeral was from the Porters at Heathrow Airport.
It read:
“To the finest gentleman who ever walked through these halls. He made a Porter feel like a King.”

@AlistairHaimes@EdwardGLuce@adamboultonTABB The only sensible take is whatever the motivations (noble or otherwise), this is an immense gamble which could succeed or fail. I'd like to see more analysis of how exactly anti regime groups obtain the levers of power. How cohesive are the armed forces, are there any splits?
