Roe v wade getting over turned while we have a Democrat for president should end the myth of electoralism…our power is within our communities and our collective resistance not with parties who have always been against us
As we’ve warned, SCOTUS isn’t just coming for abortion - they’re coming for the right to privacy Roe rests on, which includes gay marriage + civil rights.
Manchin is blocking Congress codifying Roe. House has seemingly forgotten about Clarence Thomas. These 2 points must change
In the discussion surrounding the draft opinion leaking, I hope trans and nonbinary people don’t get left behind. Though a small portion of the population this opinion will affect, our specific needs should be part of the conversation. This isn’t just about “women.”
Not sure if this is all airlines (probably) or just @SouthwestAir. I would love to indicate the X gender marker that appears on my *government issued* ID but I CAN'T because they don't provide that option.
not to distract from anything happening at UC Berkeley right now but it is fucking rage inducing that students only learned about the nature of an active threat to campus after someone leaked an email between the deans
Aside from the obvious intense emotional toll of having to attend class during an ongoing threat, how was administration practically expecting us to attend Zoom classes from our lockdown positions?
A vague campus-wide warning, our dean alerting us of an "active shooter situation," a campus-wide lockdown that lasts for hours, and UC Berkeley still doesn't cancel all classes? They told us in-person classes would move to Zoom for the day while still locked down. Ghoulish.
To be clear, later information revealed there were no shots fired, simply credible threats against specific individuals, and possibly a person armed with a gun on campus.
But students did not know this as we sheltered in place.
