@drsprs @Sanctuary_Bio I would argue the reverse: far too often expansion teams cellar-dwell for years, and then never achieve liftoff. By making an expansion team strong right out the gate, NHL created a tough new competitor AND ensured success of the franchise. More leagues should do this.
