Organizers for a new EU-wide Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) initiative now have 6 months to begin a 12-month period of collecting signatures. It must gather at least one million valid statements of support from EU citizens, and also reach minimum thresholds in at least 7 member states.

This will be the third attempt. The first was in 2013 and the second was in 2020. The first attempt got 285,000 sigs and 6 countries crossed the threshold. The second attempt got 296,000 sigs and 4 countries crossed the threshold. We'll see if this attempt can reach the 1M sigs and 7 countries needed.
