🎉Very happy to announce my new book 'Superpower Europe' is out.
A story of hope and ambition, on the growing pains of the European Union, in a world dominated by hard power and geopolitics.🙏@politybooks@ItineraTwit https://t.co/iINW32pHWs
Switzerland’s World Cup preparations were dealt a blow today as forward Breel Embolo was forced to stay home following a last-minute decision by U.S. authorities to review his clearance to travel.

This is not a joke. This is real.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been nominated to chair a United Nations committee tasked with protecting women’s rights, human rights, and combating terrorism.
Let that sink in.
A regime that arrests, tortures, and kills women for showing their hair.
A regime that treats women as second-class citizens under Sharia law.
A regime that denies its people the most basic freedoms and has repeatedly opened fire on peaceful protesters in the streets.
A regime with one of the highest execution rates in the world, which continues to execute people every single day.
A regime responsible for the massacre of tens of thousands of its own citizens.
And now this same regime is being entrusted with defending women’s rights and human rights.
As for combating terrorism, the absurdity speaks for itself. Few regimes have done more to spread fear, instability, violence, and extremism across the region and beyond.
Yet some European democracies supported this nomination.
The United Kingdom.
Spain.
France.
Countries that claim to stand for freedom, democracy, and human rights.
What message does this send to the women imprisoned in Iran? To political prisoners awaiting execution? To families who have buried their loved ones after decades of repression?
What message does it send to the Iranian people, who have spent decades fighting, suffering, and dying for freedom?
This is not diplomacy. It is a betrayal of the very values the United Nations claims to defend.
Shame on everyone who made this possible.

The Freie Universität Berlin showing some spine and moral clarity:
"A boycott runs contrary to the founding principles of our university. International research depends on an open exchange of ideas. [...] Anyone who demands that relations to researchers and institutions be cut off does not understand the role of science and education in times of conflict. It is precisely in times such as these that we need reliable and enduring relationships that make room for different perspectives. These relationships help us to generate new knowledge and discoveries together. They also help keep pathways of communication open, which are often blocked when issues become increasingly polarized."

@ItineraTwit https://t.co/7P5JuGQAMA
🚨 The Islamic regime HANGED Iranian MMA Champion Gholamreza Khani Shekarab
They hanged Gholamreza today.
He was our MMA champion, a coach and international referee.
A real fighter who always made us proud.
They accused him of spying for Israel.
He had no fair trial.
They didn’t give him a real lawyer.
They only tortured him until he gave forced confessions.
They took one of our own and hanged him like he was nothing.
This regime is killing our people every single day.
This truly breaks my heart.
The world needs to know his name.
Rest in power, Gholamreza. 💔
While all the mainstream media are talking whether Ahmadinejad is going to replace Khamenei, innocent people are being executed in in Iran every day.
The New York Times, spent this week doing political analysis on a regime that, as you were reading it, was dragging two Kurdish men out of their cells at dawn and hanging them in secret.
No trial worth mentioning. No family visit. No return of the bodies. Just, gone.
Ramin Zaleh. Karim Maroufpour. Remember.
Here's what I know about Iranian politics: it doesn't matter if it's Khamenei, Ahmadinejad, or whoever they find next, the machine keeps running. Arrest. Torture. Forced confession. Secret execution.
🆘 DON’T LOOK AWAY 🆘
The Islamic regime is going to hang Diana Taherabadi because she participated in the January protests.
She’s only 16.
This is pure barbarism.
Share this before they kill her.

Allen daarheen. Inschrijven kan nog, journalisten welkom. https://t.co/fM0V0Ou1I2

Ehsan Afarashteh
36 years old
Master's degree graduate in civil engineering and an elite in networking and IT
Originally from Isfahan and raised in Tehran.
Executed in Iran by the regime on unproven spying charges
The 38th execution during the 75 day Internet blackout
🚨Islamic Regime Hanged a 32-Year-Old Civil Engineer This Morning
Ehsan Afarashteh was only 32.
He had a Master’s in civil engineering and worked as an IT and cybersecurity specialist from Isfahan.
He was living safely in Turkey, but the barbaric regime tricked his father: “Tell your son to come home, he’s safe.”
His father believed them and called Ehsan.
Ehsan trusted his dad and returned.
Then they arrested him at the airport.
Tortured him in solitary for months.
Forced a fake confession.
When his father heard they sentenced his son to death, his heart stopped beating and he passed away.
This morning, the Islamic Regime hanged Ehsan anyway.
A good young man who just wanted to come home.
They destroyed his whole family and killed him in silence.
We’re losing our brightest young people, one by one, every single day.
While the world looks away.
This is Iran under the Islamic Republic.
