Don't have much to say about what kind of sandwich I'm eating, or whatever. Will announce auroras and other sky oddities instead!

[corvi @corvi]

Reminder: it's a good time of year to look for zodiacal light - see the plane of the solar system! North hemisphere, after sunset.

[corvi @corvi]

Planetary K-index is 4 tonight, possible auroras. ACTUAL auroras, however, are not looking very good.

[corvi @corvi]

A solar flare and a solar wind will both hit earth tomorrow - watch for auroras tomorrow night!

[corvi @corvi]

High latitudes might get long, colorful sunsets tonight: Type 1 Polar Stratospheric Clouds. Destroy Ozone layer, get pretty sky.

[corvi @corvi]

Largest full moon of 2010 tomorrow night, as the moon reaches perigee with Earth. 30% brighter than usual!

[corvi @corvi]

Astronomers estimate a 5% chance of high-latitude auroras tonight. On the other hand, 100% chance of unimpressive taurid meteors. :)

[corvi @corvi]

Very small chance of aurora tonight (there was a coronal mass ejection), but you should go outside and look at the orionids anyway.

[corvi @corvi]

Tonight: awesome perseids! 1AM pacific, earth will pass through a lost thread of the swift-tuttle comet, up to 200 meteors an hour!

[corvi @corvi]

Interplanetary magnetic field currently 12.5 south. Good auroras if you're in North Dakota or something; not quite in my area yet...

[corvi @corvi]

Didn't seen any noctilucent clouds. Consolation prize: international space station flyover, west to east, at about 11:20 PM in the PNW.

[corvi @corvi]

Possible noctilucent clouds tonight, visible Northern US, if you ever wanted to see spooky glowing clouds. http://tinyurl.com/yt8ubr Woo!

[corvi @corvi]

Planetary index = 5. Small chance of auroras.

[corvi @corvi]

Penumbral eclipse, visible Monday if you're in a western state.

[corvi @corvi]

Moderate chance of auroras tonight.

[corvi @corvi]

Venus is as far away from the sun as it ever gets tonight. Should be visible 3 hours after sunset. South.

[corvi @corvi]

Quarentid meteor shower tonight and tomorrow. View the charred remains of comet 2003 EH1!

[corvi @corvi]

Slight chance of aurora tonight, but you'll have better luc (and more colorful) with fireworks. :) Happy New Year!

[corvi @corvi]

Geminid meteors tonight. Harder to see than usual - very bright moon.

[corvi @corvi]

In about half an hour, for PNW folk, the international space station will fly overhead. 8:24, west to east. Sparkly!

And if you go see meteors, help a bunch of scientists measure light pollution! http://tinyurl.com/5spg56
