Frat dudes trying to defend this Cornell shit is hilarious. Group chat of 50+ dudes talking bout “free pussy upstairs” and you think they were self policing
If I learned a new language and native speakers told me "hey there's context behind that term you don't know and you shouldn't say it" I would just not use that term
They’re so used to Black (and especially Black American) cultures/aesthetics being a commodity they can freely extract and profit from, so Black ppl wanting to educate them on their use of it or even just an acknowledgment of its origins is seen as lessers not knowing their place
This AAVE discourse just proves to me that a lot of non-black ppl resent the fact that some of the stuff they like to consume/say comes from or is inspired by black ppl, who they see as their lessers
So they deny, play dumb, or say black ppl are villains who forced it upon them
getting old is insane. we found out last week my grandpa has cancer and the doctor was just like "he's 90 years old, he says it's not bothering him, we're just gonna leave it be, otherwise we'd make him miserable" and like. yeah he's kinda right
