And so ends a REALLY busy week for @CoRWM, who visited @SellafieldLtd, @UKNNL and, today, @llwrsite with @rwm_gdf_uk. We've learned much about decommissioning and radioactive waste management challenges across the @NDAgovuk estate. More to follow soon...
This is the JET (Joint European Torus) reactor, which is the first (and only) device to produce controlled fusion power with deuterium and tritium. The temperature of the plasma generated by fusion is a whopping 100 million degrees Celsius! @UKAEAofficial#CCFE
#CoRWM have published a briefing note to summarise the inventory of radioactive waste that could be emplaced within a Geological Disposal Facility.
