Good morning, all: As you know, I usually post about one of my favorite topics: The Missouri legislature; but, right now, I'm really struggling; please share this link with your networks: https://t.co/2lK10moL3W #eternallygrateful
1) There is no agreement between senators on a voting on a host of amendments related to border, migration and the Laken Riley Act. The mood in the Senate has grown increasingly dark over the past two hours and time slipping off the clock.
1) House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is now huddled in his office with various GOP debt ceiling negotiators, the Republican Whip team and other lieutenants.
A) Freedom Caucus Chair Perry on Fox on debt ceiling: It's interesting how the date keeps moving out to give them more time to try and come to a deal unless they can pass a bill in the Senate
McCarthy: I feel closer to an agreement now than I did a long time..But if it's not there yet. We continue to work to make it right..there was no goal there. Look, I will get it when it gets right. And I don't want people to use like a deadline.
McCarthy on debt ceiling: This bill will not be thousands of pages. This this bill will probably be anywhere between 150 pages or less. It will not be a long bill. But I think 72 hours is important.
Dem NC Rep Don Davis on Fox on GOP pushing for work requirements in debt ceiling deal: Work requirements in place and in many cases this already taking effect..expanding these work requirements..has raised great concerns.
McCarthy on if he can get all GOPers to vote yes: Do you ever think you're going to get every single member to vote for it? I don't get every single member to vote for the first one. I didn't get every single member to vote for me for speaker. So I think you're raising the bar.
