An idea I can’t stop thinking about:
‘The First Time Yes Rule.’
Unfortunately, most people are in the ‘no business’.
They look at all the reasons why something won’t work:
“I don’t have the ability.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I don’t have the right skills.”
Instead, just say yes the first time you get invited to something or an idea comes into your head.
Saying “yes” fuels creativity as it creates room for discovery and play.
Committing to something ahead of time forces you to make things work, figure it out, and adjust to the commitment you have made.
Saying “yes” feeds opportunity as it does not leave room for thoughts on what could have been.
What if Blockbuster hadn’t turned down the opportunity to buy a then struggling Netflix?
What if Gary Vee hadn’t said no to investing in Uber (twice)? Ouch.
“Saying “yes” to opportunities is about saying “yes” to yourself” - @TracyBrower108
It’s one of the biggest mindset shifts you can make to open yourself up to a world of possibilities.
So next time you’re faced with an opportunity or new idea, think about what your “no” might be costing you…
