Remember:
1. primates
2. trees
3. freshwater fish
4. large mammals
5. crocodiles
6. turtles & tortoises
7. high seas sharks
8. island species
9. frogs, toads, newts, & salamanders
10. flowering plants
For all of these, a staggering 50-75% of species already risk extinction.
btw politicians who say this sort of stuff are paid millions of dollars by the fossil fuel industry to do so in order to prevent us from ever moving away from coal, gas, and oil.
This is the kinda shit where someone needs to pull the driver out of that shit & beat him w/in an inch of his life for using this fuckass mechsuit to fight a fucking ELEPHANT IN THEIR TERRITORY!!!!!
unironically this is like a core tenet of my belief of environmental stewardship. we're clearly supposed to be not just maintaining the ecosystem, but making it thrive! instead we let capitalist ghouls ruin everything. it must come to an end
We cannot have sustainable energy because it threatens the oil industry. We cannot have healthcare because it threatens insurance. We cannot have peace because it threatens the weapons industry. Capitalism built a system where doing the right thing is treated like bad business.
A reminder that Indigenous People are often the only - and at this stage of the game THE LAST - stand between capitalism and the survival of all life on Earth.
Anyone else get emotional when they think about the Earth for too long? Like she’s so beautiful and magical and we treat her so awfully; it literally breaks my heart
the effects of climate change are really ramping up but at least all the people we need to buy in to change things are getting stupider and more individualistic
of course it is ALWAYS our Indigenous communities that suffer first and hardest because of our lack of attention to climate change. This is utterly devastating and we cannot continue to keep allowing this to happen.
I grieve even more for the (other) animals than I do humans because they are totally innocent bystanders to the Climate Collapse that human males have caused. Since humans have proved incapable of rejecting patriarchy & capitalism, human extinction is now inevitable & necessary.
Really wish we could just put the cat back in the bag to before AI came along. Exacerbating the climate crisis AND making everyone stupider, uncreative, subservient, and the rich richer? Truly checked all of the boxes to finishing us off as a species
this is a good example of how population health cannot be secured individually
health cannot be a personal responsibility when the conditions for health do not exist
when you lack safe food, clean air, or clean water, individual choices cannot save you
“Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you’re the one filming it”❤️🩹
i took a couple environmental-based politics classes in college and in every single class they quite literally say this would happen because of our unchanged behavior towards climate change so yeah it’s crazy but lowkey what did we think was gonna happen
“Humans caused this” no. humans have lived alongside and even grew ecosystems for hundreds of thousands of years. What has caused this is European-driven and influenced settler-colonialism and mass industrialization. There’s no way around that.
I've never understood how I'll get “left behind” if I don't use AI. I'm fully capable of writing, researching, thinking critically, and solving problems on my own. What exactly does it do that's so special that it'll leave me behind?
Breathing in hefty lungfuls of smoke as I get explosive diarrhea from salad, the sky turns apocalyptic orange while oil companies drill in protected lands, screwworms are eating cattle alive and the president just paid $6 million for rape. And I’m also able to bet on all of it!
