UPDATE: PVR Mani Square played the flat DCP on their PXL screen today during the 4:00 PM show. While I am glad they played the correct format, it is not a paying audience’s job to do this sort of following up.
I’ll post more on this rigmarole later.
I’m currently waiting in the lobby of PVR Mani Square. The show starts in 20 minutes, and I still haven’t heard back from either @DenzD or @_PVRCinemas@PicturesPVR
@ck_kohinoor@DenzD@_PVRCinemas Hi, Kohinoor. A flat DCP was played today during the 4:00 PM show, so I hope they continue to do the same for the following shows. In case they don’t, do complain.
I woke up today to the unfortunate news that PVR Mani Square is no longer playing the flat DCP of The Odyssey on their PXL screen. I booked a ticket for today’s 4:00 PM show specifically because @DenzD had confirmed that a flat DCP would be shown.

@Speaks_Div I spoke with the manager. He sounded equally confused about why it has happened, or he is lying. He said that he’ll try to get the projectionist to play the flat DCP. I don’t know what the hell that means when you already have the flat DCP. Why swindle paying and excited viewers?
And this isn’t the only instance of such malpractice. Attached below are other examples.
@_PVRCinemas@PicturesPVR probably assumes that Indian audiences are unaware of or uneducated about these matters, so they have the gall to pull off such stunts.
@UniversalPics has given clear instructions to play the flat DCP on flat screens and not the scope DCP, as doing so would significantly compromise the viewing experience.
@cosmo_9529@DenzD@_PVRCinemas I'm traveling from Assam. Approx 1400 kilometres. Man I'm devasted now. I booked both IMAX and PXL tickets for tomorrow. Please help @DenzD 🙏😭
A friend visited Gurugram and reported that @_PVRCinemas despite having FLAT screens in Director’s Cut, are playing scope version of #TheOdyssey | those screens are already small but FLAT, after charging a fortune from customer playing incorrect aspect ratio of the film. Requesting @DenzD@UniversalIND to take cognisance of it. Director’s Cut screens are costliest and yet.. scope version is being played. They are playing FLAT only in IMAX. This is very unfortunate.
@kamalgianc fyi.
Universal Studios tried everything. They sent letters and repeatedly asked cinemas to play the correct Flat version on their flat screens. Audiences are literally begging. Yet, most PVR INOX flat screens simply refuse to honor these requests. They are completely disrespecting the time and money of paying customers, leaving audiences angry and disappointed.
These chains have zero sympathy and absolutely no technical knowledge. The staff ruining our experience are full of arrogance and frankly illiterate when it comes to basic projection.
Emails will not work. They are not going to read them. If we want this fixed, we have to go to them in person. Take a hand-printed letter, make them read it in front of you, and ensure they understand every single detail. We literally have to teach them like our own children. Explain what Flat is, what Scope is, why there are two different DCPs, and why a flat screen absolutely needs the Flat DCP. That might be our only hope for a proper presentation.
@DenzD@_PVRCinemas Still waiting for an update, or even an acknowledgement.
Why promise something when you can’t deliver it? You folks shouldn’t take paying audiences for granted. @DenzD@_PVRCinemas
@_mrchaturvedi@iamshreytyagi@DenzD@Speaks_Div
This is just unacceptable at this point
It's a full auditorium and the manager is saying they don't have flat DCP from Sunday
Audience should be compensated
@cosmo_9529@DenzD@_PVRCinemas Same issue. Really disappointing. Feels like a bait and switch. Get more booking via the better screening on opening weekend and then switching to an inferior product after getting the good will on social media @_PVRCinemas
Please take a look
