Exposing the dangers of fast fashion, & exploring the impact on the environment, workers, & developing countries manufacturing clothing. RVHS Scholars.
#fastfashion is extremely wasteful. Consumers don't think of clothing as valuable anymore. It is now disposable. The picture below helps put this into perspective.
POC are encouraged to apply to the board of directors. It's important that this strike and the organizers be intersectional. Especially because the environmental field is majority white and male. Apply by April 13, 2019, 11:59 p.m. (tonight). https://t.co/wrlEoao8QL
Wow! I have never seen a #fastfashion protest before. @XtinctionRebel We're you guys educating people on the issue too? I'm guessing you were because in the picture you are talking to someone with a H&M bag.
@RVHSScholars@ther2i2edge@RichlandTwo@RichlandOne Please help empower and encourage students to let their voices be heard. If we want to truly produce Global Citizens then we need to get involved in global issues. And climate change is arguably the most pressing issue we are facing today.
I wouldn't either, but we don't see our clothing has something that has real value anymore. This is the attitude the #fastfashion industry wants us to have and keep.
@cost_fast@DaisySchubertUK Do people really put clothes into their landfill bins and not take them to a charity shop or textile bin? I wouldn’t dream of doing that.
Calling all South Carolina Youth🗣🗣🗣. We are looking for people to join our Board of Directors. Fill out the form below by April 13, 2019, 11:59 p.m. to be considered. https://t.co/wrlEoao8QL
Around 100 billion garments are made each year. That's too much. Even if they were all made from pineapple leaves and orange peel, it would still be too much. What is it going to take for H&M to admit that their model itself is the problem.
"In 2018 alone, the brand collected over 3.4 million pounds of unwanted textiles in the U.S." Does this really help solve #fastfashion? Where do the clothes go once collected?

When I tell people I am researching #fastfashion they ask me two questions. 1.) What is fast fashion? And 2.) Why does it matter? These are just a few reasons why. And if you want to learn more you should watch @truecostmovie on Netflix.
Remember that even though you can not see the person who makes clothing, they are valuable. And fashion should be seen as valuable too. Don't give into the disposable mindset that #fastfashion creates.
#WhoMadeMyClothes ? Do you know who made your clothes?⠀

@fash_rev 's movement embraces the idea that our clothes are valuable, and our relationships with them should last a lifetime ✊ That's why we've invited them to a hold a talk at our April 27 … https://t.co/wYXfwT307N
#Fastfashion is harmful to humans making the clothing. This is an ethical and environmental issue. It is sad that this type of news is common for this industry. Let's do something to change this.
We are deeply saddened to share this heartbreaking tragedy, where 5 garment workers in Cambodia lost limbs in a truck collision last Thursday. No one should bleed for fashion. Keep asking #WhoMadeMyClothes and demand a safer fashion industry for all.

¨Apparel retailers such as Zara and H&M dominate the world of #fastfashion, with Zara owner Inditex making 3.44 billion euros ($3.9 billion) in profit in 2018.¨

I hope that the Green New Deal includes regulations on the #fastfashion industry. Fast Fashion needs to be stopped or change in order to combat climate change because of the significant environmental impact. Does anyone know if the Green New Deal addresses fast fashion?
🗣 “This is serious.”
Happy to hear that @AOC is aligned with the frontline by moving the operationalizing of a #JustTransition. It’s time. Learn what we mean when we say that: https://t.co/tmRNNOIEFn ⏰
