Let me reply, in a civil language that is not your hallmark in public life, @mkatju .Having read your reply, I really wonder if your elevation to the exalted chair of Supreme Court was based on merits or was a usual nepotistic success based on the reputation and works of your illustrious grandfather, freedom fighter Kailash Nath Katju.
I say this because any person with sound judgement capabilities would, at least now, understand the difference with notional losses and actual scam. You are stuck in 2012-13, where propaganda and conspiracy created such a bogus bogey of imaginary losses running into lakhs of crores in coal and 2G allocation. Mind you, these were not actual losses or scams, these were imaginary losses.
Twelve years of Modi government, aided with coercive investigative agencies and complaint institutions failed to discover money trail, or any instance of corruption, because every loss was imaginary, every charge was baseless. No one was held guilty, because there was no guilt. Ditto, for Commonwealth and Adarsh allegations or any other so-called scams. Your ranting is a decade and a half stale, dada ji. And your reasoning is clouded, not sound!
As for your personal interaction with Dr. Manmohan Singh ji, let’s approach it differently. Now Modi is a super strong PM, without any doubt. Why didn’t you take the same request of pardon or commutation of the death sentence awarded to Devinderpal Singh Bhullar by the Supreme Court to PM Modi? What has stopped you in past twelve years? If you did, why didn’t he do it? Is he also a weak PM, who has no powers? What stops you from going to Modi now?
The fact is that you have cunningly created an instance to drive a wedge between Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sikh community, by targeting him on a sentimental Sikh issue, while using the instance to paint him helpless. If you want real picture of this strength as PM, read books like ones by Barack Obama or talk to bureaucrats who worked with him. You will be shocked to know, what a democratic, strong-willed PM he was!
Yes, Dr. Manmohan Singh was an accidental PM, because he never aspired for the job. But only a fool-hardy can interpret it as a disqualification or incompetence. In fact, the reality that he so effectively led the nation despite not being a usual politician, makes Dr. Manmohan Singh so special. His politeness, niceties and intellectual heft will of course have no meaning to you, because one needs certain sensibilities and understanding to appreciate finer tastes and sober language. A sher for you:
फूल की पत्ती से कट सकता है हीरे का जिगर
मर्द-ए-नादान पर कलाम-ए-नर्म ओ नाज़ुक बेअसर
Even the most enchanting symphonies fall deaf on ears who love the discordant noises!

@NotAfangirll_ even if he had no intention of doing any of the things he mentions the sheer audacity of making such garbage comments in public is enough to warrant his dismissal.
I visited the southernmost tip of India.
I stood at Indira Point. I walked under trees that have stood for centuries. I dove into coral reefs among the most vibrant on earth.
And I sat with the people who live there. Tribal communities, whose land is being taken away by violating the Forest Rights Act. Settlers, many of them former soldiers, placed on these islands by the Indian government, who aren’t getting fair compensation.
The Modi government and BJP tells you Great Nicobar Project is about defence. It is not.
Expand INS Baaz - we will back the government fully. The Navy has been asking for expansion for five years - it has been ignored.
They tell you it is about a transhipment port. It is not. India is already building one in Kerala, which is on the mainland.
What it actually is: 1.5 crore trees felled. Coral reefs erased from official maps. Soldiers and tribals displaced - so one businessman can build hotels and casinos on India’s most irreplaceable ecological land.
Every young Indian I have spoken to understands this. You know that no amount of profit is worth destroying what can never be recovered.
I stand for ecologically balanced development. These islands can be the most extraordinary sustainable destination the world has ever seen. That is the India worth fighting for.
