First issue madness! Here's some samples of a new collection we purchased recently. It's full of 1st issues from the 1970s, mostly from series that didn't last long. The publishers were trying anything to get new readers at this time, and crowd out the competition on the racks.

@ManFirestorm This annual is from 1980. JRJR didn't become the regular artist on the title until 1983. Byrne/Cockrum were the monthly artists in 1980.

@jpalmiotti Romita Sr for me, but I always enjoyed Romita inking Gil Kane. Kane brought more dynamic anatomy, and Romita brought the polished inks.

@jpalmiotti Liked to spend his money for sure. I remember WizardWorld Chicago (2003?), he had a huge display & plasma TV display. Someone also had a company CC, and took a bunch of us out for a not-cheap dinner.
