Day 17: Duo
Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre
In the nine films they made together (from The Maltese Falcon in 1941 to The Verdict in 1946), their strikingly disparate acting styles somehow seamlessly meshed every time

This quote & Stany's delivery gave me goosebumps:
Then there was the case of the guy who was found shot. His wife said he was cleaning his gun and his stomach got in the way. All she got was a 3-to-10 stretch in Tehachapi
Phyllis: Perhaps it was worth it to her

I can't let #Noirvember go by without rewatching Double Indemnity. Every line is quotable.
The standouts this time round are
Walter Neff: Suddenly it came over me that everything would go wrong. [...] I couldn't hear my own footsteps. It was the walk of a dead man.

@Noirchick1 I'm still waiting for Sweet Smell of Success to be shown in theatres over here again so I can see it for the first time. I missed it last time it was at the BFI.
#NoirvemberChallenge Day 16, Lesser known #filmnoir everyone should see?
I want to go with On Dangerous Ground, as I don't hear many people talk about it. I believe it's the first film Ida Lupino directed when Nicholas Ray was ill.
Day 16 #NoirvemberChallenge Lesser-known #filmnoir everyone should see?
High Tide ('47) dir by John Reinhardt. Starring Lee Tracy, Don Castle, and Julie Bishop. A “newspaper noir”, it has it all – stellar writing, acting, & that ending. The @noirfoundation restored it in 2013.
Day 15 of the #NoirvemberChallenge is the Film Noir Character You'd Trust the Least With Your Secrets. I think I'll go with Kathie Moffat of Out of the Past. She'd do or say anything to save her azz, including putting my business in the streets. #Noirvember
Day 14 #NoirvemberChallenge#filmnoir Mt Rushmore?
Bogart
Burt Lancaster
Barbara Stanywyck (I know she only did a couple of noirs but I love her so)
John Huston
Day 14 #NoirvemberChallenge Who is on the #filmnoir Mt. Rushmore (actors, directors, etc)? Submitted by @rvzjazz
This was hard! I’m going with actors Humphrey Bogart (Most Iconic), Robert Mitchum & Claire Trevor (genre King and Queen), and directors Robert Siodmak & Fritz Lang.
Day 10 #NoirvemberChallenge favourite Gloria Grahame #filmnoir?
I love her in everything, especially In a Lonely Place and The Big Heat. But I want to mention her sizzling chemistry with Sterling Hayden in Naked Alibi. Loved them in that one! #FilmNoirClub
Day 10 #NoirvemberChallenge Fav Gloria Grahame #filmnoir?
She’s a legend, & choosing one role is difficult, but I pick The Big Heat ('53), playing the complex Debby Marsh. Considered one of her most iconic performances, she keeps you rooting for this tough dame’s transformation.
Day 9 #NoirvemberChallenge Favourite Dan Duryea film?
I mean he's great in so many things but my favourite is Too Late for Tears with the brilliant and beautiful Lizabeth Scott.
Day 9 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Dan Dureya #filmnoir?
There are many you could pick, and they're all good, but today I chose Criss Cross ('49), starring Richard Widmark as brutal gangster Slim Dundee, with perfect villainous betrayal and slimy darkness right until the end.
I love The Maltese Falcon!
Great choice of a line.
I think my favourite is when Walter Huston staggers in and goes "you know, the falcon" and then dies.
