@sussexlc@allthesurveyors@CSWnews Viewed in context and far from being "fair to the majority of those who pay their taxes due on time", the poorly targeted and administered albatross of a retrotax policy is an epic spaffing of taxpayer money. What is 'made real' here is #LoanCharge as HMRC Emperor's New Clothes.
@sussexlc@allthesurveyors@CSWnews Destroying lives - or "Making it Real", seems to have been the point, in the end. Its not as if the #LoanCharge policy can have been about deterring loan scheme promoters and enablers, or indeed really about revenue recovery, given the FOI-revealed 4 : 1 costs to recovery ratio.
If you're affected by or fighting #LoanCharge give this post a like & retweet so people can identify your Twitter profile then revisit this post, I'll post it again as well, then follow everybody who has liked it. We need to build a network. Stronger together
#LoanChargeScandal
Today I'll give a few examples of the corruption I witnessed. The Sunday Times killed a two page story about Cameron's involvement in covering up HSBC fraud. Shortly after, the editor Camilla Cavendish was given a job at No10 followed by a peerage.
@citizen_retro@gregwrightYP@policeconduct Govt appears to quite like it that way. A semi-autonomous organisation tacitly approved to creatively draft - rather than just collect, opaque tax policy (increasingly retrospective), then reinterpret it later and plunder at will. Not so much with the corporates, though.
@gregwrightYP@policeconduct What will HMRC have internally concluded - 11 times, no less? That their officers followed correct procedure for dealing with #LoanCharge customers, and that HMRC officers' actions had nothing to do with #LoanChargeSuicides? Well they would say that sort of thing, eh?
On 17 June, a First Tier Tribunal will decide whether the ICO was right in its decision not to force the PO to disclose its secret Horizon Shortfall Scheme Case Assessment Principles and Case Assessment Guidance. A previous thread, below, includes the original ICO reasoning:
He's taking the entire country for fools — aided and abetted by our shameful media.
Now he's doing it from a hiding place and not making himself available to answer questions — it's been six weeks.
He's supposed to be a public servant, meaning that he can be held to account, but our lax Parliamentary rules say that he never has to turn up to his job if he doesn't want.
Far from being a party to change the system, Nigel Farage and Reform UK are experts in milking it for all it's worth.
How many houses does he really have? Nine Houses Nigel?
I'm certain Laura Kuenssberg will be all over his corruption when she is shouted at by Zia Yusuf later. 🤦♂️

“We come to HMRC. I hate these people so much.” “Awful people. If I ever get a sniff of power, I will tear that place apart limb by limb.” Victims of retrospective #LoanChargeScandal would cheer you on with this for sure. HMRC have and continue to destroy our lives @LCAG_2019
