Thanks to our wonderful team - volunteering their time/creativity to develop a framework for colleges and universities to share #COVID19 data in a transparent and timely manner (2/x)
UPDATE 🧵: Bittersweet that our @CovidDashboards team has rated our last #COVID19 college dashboard - over 350 schools rated, we are moving to next phase. Our website will remain, with abundant resources.. https://t.co/SVfxIJhRuE (1/x)
Preparing an analysis thread on Duke's Covid-19 outbreak and the university's dashboard is impossible to read and use. Cases over time are not displayed clearly and it is only updated once a week on Tuesdays. The dashboard was rated C+ by @CovidDashboards.
📍COLLEGES & COVID—over 120,000 cases linked to US universities since Jan, >530k cases have been reported since Jan 2020. NYT also identified >100 deaths involving college students/employees. at least 17 colleges have already reported >1,000 cases in 2021. https://t.co/FQ0BrXIOnF
Great work, @BerkleeCollege, on your #COVID19 dashboard. We rate it A-(minus). Consider delineating student & staff data, including isolation/quarantine info, & adding in a vaccination plan w campus status summary.
You are well on your way to a great dash!

@UnionCollege, we rate your #COVID19 dashboard B+(plus). Almost at an A! You can do it. Consider including city/county data, summary of campus status, and a vaccination plan.
You're close :).

@DominguezHills, we rate your #COVID19 dashboard C. Daily updates=a great place to start. Other important info to add include city/county data, frequency of testing, and lag time of results.
We believe in you! Let us know if/when you make changes.

@marshallu, we rate your #COVID19 dashboard B. Some important additions to reach an A include: testing frequency, lag time for test results, vax plan, and city/county data.
You got this! We are happy to rerate.

@BostonCollege, well done on your dashboard's accessibility. We are impressed by the ability to zoom in up to 200% & appreciate the use of appropriate headings for easy navigation.
These are important efforts to maintain accessibility for low vision and keyboard users!
In @vermontgov, variation in public health measures & dashboard resources may drive the widely disparate number of reported cases at @Middlebury vs. @uvmvermont (lacking daily dash updates) & @dartmouth. None include community data or info on testing.

The decline in #COVID19 cases seems to be leveling off at pretty high numbers of new cases, hospitalizations and deaths. There is concern about variants as well as an increasing number of cases related to college outbreaks. Vaccinations ⬆️ via @NYTimes https://t.co/Lu89ZcGz1o
Carefully watching the outbreak at Dartmouth, where 6.5% of students on campus (98) are currently an active case, with 20% in isolation/quarantine. This outbreak shows that despite twice weekly testing, it is behavior that can change transmission dynamics.

Unfortunate to see the state of Iowa moving backwards in terms of #COVID19 transparency, as county-level data now being withheld. All entities - colleges, counties, states - keep people informed and healthy when they #ShowUsTheData !
C&C // Independent researchers @CovidDashboards gave Miami University’s COVID-19 dashboard a B+, but what does that grade mean?https://t.co/hiZrvGIKth
A simple search of college-related news stories reveals numerous universities and colleges as vaccination sites. This is exciting news! We hope that institutions opening their doors to this important endeavor also consider incorporating #vaccine strategy into their dashboards.
In recent days, @RuthanneFuller, mayor of Newton, MA, has called for greater oversight from @MassGov due to a #COVID19 outbreak at @BostonCollege.
Their dashboard omits local cases, a small but significant indicator of commitment to community health.

Our new #COVID19 dashboard rating schema is up & running! Now includes vaccine strategy and digital accessibility (thx to new team member @shivkumar140!) https://t.co/2bzo3Kzs53 Let us know if you want your dash re-rated!
