Made this account for local stuff (Covina and West Covina mostly) and transit to/from LA. I'm just a regular citizen, not affiliated with city government.
(For the record, I'm still so happy we have phase 1 open. Any issues with the LA Metro D line extension are minor and not even very frequent. Ride the D line. Yay public transit.)
The purple D line tunnel lights are on so the moving train causes an eerie strobe effect. Not enough that I get a headache, but enough to be unsettling. It feels very horror movie, even though nothing is actually wrong. Train speed and people are normal.
@lishh87@metrolaalerts Is it an issue with the divergence of the B and D lines? I saw 3 B lines leave Union Station before a D line. One of the B lines was switched D-to-B last minute. Does it have anything to do with the issues last night around Pershing Square?
@FoothillTransit When are you going to fix awful connection times between line 281 and line 490 at the Covina Transit Center? It's a bad transit experience. It's also not optimized for Metrolink train connections. It would be nice if wait times were 10-20 min instead of 30+ min.
@metrolaalerts Any chance this was coodinated arson? SF BART also had a fire in Civic Center Station leading into downtown. A foreign object apparently flew into the 3rd rail.
Here are new details about what led up to the blown insulator:
There was a foreign object spotted in the trackway and wind blew it into the third rail. There was no train in the trackway at the time.
B/D LINES: 7th/Metro and Westlake/MacArthur stations closing due to fire department activity.
Trains turning back to NoHo or Wilshire/Western at Wilshire/Vermont and turning back to Union Station at Pershing Square.
The new(ish) @Metrolink ticket machine menu is still confusing for people who don't ride often. You need to make a prominent "one way ticket" option on the main screen as the first option. I helped someone buy a ticket today. They could not figure out where to start.
The first ever train-banner encounter to take place east of the 57 has occurred!!!
A Line to Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne & Pomona opens at noon!!! 🎉

Stayed at 86% whole time when normally it would drop a few %. I was browsing internet, no video or calls, dark mode on to conserve some energy. Phone recognized it was connected (charging icon visible). Could likely get % to go up if I turned it off and just let it charge.
New LA Metro D/Purple Line trains: I tested a USB charge port from Union Station to Wilshire/Western using a fast charging cable. Conclusion: USB ports work. They are slow and won't top off your phone, but will keep the percent from dropping while you use it.
