Hello, world! π From now on, Mastodon is our preferred social media channel. It's an open source, decentralised platform β not controlled by tech giants. Follow us here: https://t.co/KZpwR61V5R
@tom__kell This came up on my "on this day" for 20 years ago π₯Ή
(Side note: I literally only log into X to see what you're up to. Do you have a Mastodon account?)
@rogeragrimes@Birdyword I'm not trying to convince you to join Mastodon here, but rather just saying you are making the experience more complicated than it needs to be - or, are being told its more complicated than it needs to be. :)
@rogeragrimes@Birdyword "And then the "right" server wasn't patched and the person who maintained it wasn't doing their job"
Yet you use https://t.co/7UkrsTmjEV which has had many security breaches and hacks over the years, even as recent as 2022 when over 5.4 million passwords leaked.
@AskCurve I woke up to fraudulent activity on my card. I don't even own a Playstation. π
Reported this the same day it happened 2 WEEKS AGO and haven't got a response from customer support other than saying it's 'been escalated'.
I've lost over 10000 NOK.
@rogeragrimes@Birdyword I just think the people that are put off by having to pick a server are already fatigued by social media and really don't care enough to sign up to a new social network.
@rogeragrimes@Birdyword How did you ever decide which mobile carrier to use? Or get your first email address?
I understand people that choosing a server puts people off and I do think it could've been presented in a better way, but it's not an uncommon practice when signing up for something new.
@rogeragrimes@Birdyword I'm sure the trend is similar, but it matters less for Mastodon because they don't have investors backing them looking for a return, like Twitter and Bluesky.
