It's important to remember our history accurately and thoughtfully.

But about 400 metres north of this site, there is a large semi-permanent encampment of homeless and addicted people, many of whom are Indigenous, who spend their days under the Reconciliation Bridge.

Those people need housing, treatment, job opportunities, healthcare, and the like, and I can't help but wonder how much good the $7.5 million allocated for this memorial could do if it was spent on them.
