Before half term, we finished our puppet unit by creating and performing our very own puppet shows. The children absolutely loved using their imagination and coming up with a story to share with their peers🎭
This morning we wrote detailed and helpful instructions to Paddington because he is a little bit clumsy! We wrote ‘How to make a delicious marmalade sandwich’. So it was only right in the afternoon, to follow our own instructions and make a sandwich of our own!
Y1 have been super mathematicians this week as they continued their learning of multiplication and division. We focused on making equal groups and writing the addition number sentence, some Y1's have been amazing and even included the multiplication sentence- WOW.
In science we have been learning about forces. Last week we focused on push and pull but this week we extended our learning by exploring and investigating how a force can change a solid. We attempted to squeeze, bend, twist, stretch and squash our objects. They loved it!
This afternoon we have been finishing off our puppets! The children have spent the term making stick puppets, planning their hand puppet, designing it, practicing attaching techniques and then finally creating their own. They have been super resilient especially with the sewing.
This afternoon we were learning all about mixtures. We discussed that a mixture is a combination of 2 or more substances. We learnt that some mixtures can be separated and some can be combined and irreversible. We started by reading Winnie the witch as she loves to make mixtures!
Y1 started their multiplication and division unit this week! Counting in 2s. We started off with a practical lesson with different activities all around the room and then moved on to some independent challenges once confident 😁
Y1 measuring capacity! They loved this activity, measuring how many cups of water it took to fill the container. They then compared capacity and discussed which could hold the most volume.
